Stari Grad Drežnik: Castle and Military History
The fortress played an important role in defending the Frankopan family’s territories against the Ottomans. Its round defensive tower is considered an example of 15th- and 16th-century military architecture. At the same time, Stari Grad Drežnik offers visitors an authentic experience of an early Renaissance castle. Educational Trails Along the Korana Canyon
The Water Route educational trail runs above the canyon of the Korana River between Stari Grad Drežnik and Korana Campsite. The Mlinica cultural trail is about two kilometers long, accessible from Drežnik Grad, and marked with information boards and signposts. The two trails differ in how they are described: for the Water Route, its location and course between the named places stand out, while for Mlinica, its approximate length and waymarking are the key details.
Two Circular Routes with Different Starting Points
Cycling route R35 is a 27.9-kilometer loop with 102 meters of elevation gain and approaches Drežnik Grad from Čatrnja along a dirt road. Route 37 is also a loop, measures 26.9 kilometers, and starts in Drežnik Grad. It is exactly one kilometer shorter than R35 and has a different starting point. Distance and starting point offer two concrete ways to compare the routes.
