A tangible built heritage site and trails of various kinds shape the view of Čatrnja. Mlinica na Korani is a highlight of the Water Route; the Mlinica Trail is accessible from Čatrnja, while an R35 cycling route continues from the town center toward Drežnik Grad.
Mlinica and the Water Route
The 2024 cultural heritage inventory published by the Municipality of Rakovica classifies Mlinica na Korani in Čatrnja as an economic building with E status. The Water Route runs above the Korana Canyon between Old Town Drežnik and Korana Campsite and includes viewpoints overlooking the gorge. As an educational trail, it is 4.5 kilometers long and has earth and gravel surfaces. Trail surfaces may change; check local conditions before setting out.
The Mlinica Trail is accessible from Čatrnja and offers a walk along the Korana River Canyon. The Rakovica Tourist Board has provided information boards and trail markers for it. Check the local signage, as trail conditions can change. An equestrian route leads to the deep, stone-lined well of Čatrnja. As the availability of horseback riding may change, check in advance.
Cycling route and trail requirements
The R35 Selište Drežničko–Čatrnja–Irinovac cycling route is 27.9 kilometers long and has an elevation gain of 102 meters. From the center of Čatrnja, it continues toward Drežnik Grad. Its described profile therefore differs significantly from the 4.5-kilometer Water Route: R35 is a cycling route, while the Water Route is an educational trail with earth and gravel surfaces.
One described approach to Čatrnja on R35 follows the D1 state road, a designated sidewalk, paved sections, and shorter gravel stretches. It is considered quite demanding and requires good fitness and a steady pace. These requirements are important when planning; they apply to the described access route and should not be confused with a general assessment of all trails in Čatrnja.
