Donja Perjasica combines archaeological points of interest in the village with the Korana and natural attractions in the nearby area. A bridge over the river and three archaeological designations define the local points of interest; waterfalls, a cave and a gorge are in the surrounding area. The wider travel region also offers cycling and hiking, while the nearby area has horse-riding activities too.

Archaeological Sites and the Korana

Donja Perjasica is home to the archaeological areas of Umka–Donja Perjasica and Kućišta–Donja Perjasica, as well as the archaeological site of Krevet. These are three distinct designations: two areas and one archaeological site. If you are planning a specific visit, check access locally. A bridge over the Korana is also located in the village and provides another tangible point of reference for the river landscape.

Waterfalls, a Cave and a Gorge

In the nearby area, there is a swimming spot by the Pusića slap waterfall near Lučica. Another swimming spot by a waterfall is located at the foot of the hamlet of Vujaškovići. The two place names refer to different points in the surrounding area. Before visiting the swimming spots, check access and current operating conditions.

The use of the Korana has also changed: boats were once used on the river; in recent decades, canoes have increasingly been used there. This change over time adds the river’s use to the view of it as a landscape feature.

Vražić Cave has a total of 295 metres of passages. This length was measured during extensive surveys in 1989. Below the hamlet of Markovići, a deep, picturesque gorge on the Korana stretches downstream from the weir there to the weir in the hamlet of Lučice, a distance of almost three kilometres. These measurements describe different natural features: cave passages on the one hand, and a stretch of gorge between two weirs on the other.

Cycling, Hiking and Horse Riding in the Travel Region

The “Korana” educational trail is over 40 kilometres long and passes through the landscapes and cultural heritage of Barilović and Krnjak. Cycling trips are offered along it; there are also several shorter sections laid out as hiking trails. This means the wider travel region offers both a longer themed route and shorter hiking trails.

In the nearby area, the “Barilo” riding club from Kosijersko Selo offers trail rides around Skradska gora and the Korana. The club also offers day trips through Skradska gora and along the Korana. Horse-riding options thus complement cycling and hiking, offering another way to experience the area.

When looking for a holiday apartment, it is helpful to distinguish between these areas: the archaeological points of interest and the bridge are in Donja Perjasica, the waterfalls and cave are in the nearby area, and the educational trail is in the wider travel region. This can help you define more clearly the area you would like to focus on during your stay.
