Florencia offers several perspectives for an exploration: at the Jardín Botánico de la Universidad de la Amazonia, orchids, heliconias and seeds take center stage, while Mirador 360 offers views of the city and its surroundings. There are also pre-Columbian rock carvings near the city center, as well as a museum and nature destinations in the municipality and nearby area. When planning, it is worth distinguishing between city attractions and places within the municipality and nearby area.

Botanical Garden and Panoramic Views

The Jardín Botánico de la Universidad de la Amazonia is located in Florencia. Its eight paths showcase orchids, heliconias and dried seeds; plants such as the Cumare palm are also preserved there. The garden thus combines botanical collections with the conservation of specific plants. The walk takes an hour and a half. You can allow for this as a separate item in your itinerary; briefly check the current visiting conditions before your visit.

Also in Florencia, Mirador 360 offers sweeping panoramic views of the city and its surroundings. The two urban attractions have different focuses: the garden highlights specific plant types and seeds, while the mirador offers a panorama of the city and surrounding area. This contrast can help you choose between botanical details and an overview of Florencia.

Culture Between Rock Carvings and the Museum

The Petroglifos de El Encanto are pre-Columbian rock carvings on a rock one meter high and sixteen meters wide. They are no more than one kilometer from the center of Florencia.

In the municipality of Florencia, the Museo Caquetá covers Indigenous communities, colonization and migration in three rooms, as well as objects related to the armed conflict and Caquetá's recent history. While El Encanto offers a pre-Columbian perspective, the museum brings together various social and historical themes.

Nature Destinations in the Municipality and Nearby Area

In the area surrounding the destination, Paraíso Amazónico is located in the corregimiento of El Caraño, twenty kilometers from the municipality of Florencia. The reserve is an agrotourism nature experience; a trail passes through ecological tunnels to a suspension bridge.

Reserva Ecoturística La Isla is located in the corregimiento of Orteguaza, within the jurisdiction of San Antonio de Atenas, ten kilometers from the municipality of Florencia. Activities there include camping, tubing and hiking. Within the municipality, Reserva Ecoturística Las Palmas offers hiking, flora and fauna observation, recreational caving and swimming.

At ten kilometers, La Isla is closer to the municipality of Florencia than Paraíso Amazónico, which is twenty kilometers away; the activities at the two destinations also differ: camping, tubing and hiking at La Isla contrast with the trail through ecological tunnels to the suspension bridge at Paraíso Amazónico. Compared with La Isla, Las Palmas broadens the range of activities to include flora and fauna observation, recreational caving and swimming; hiking is available at both destinations.
