In Serra Negra, the highlights of a discovery trip are the views, coffee and green spaces. The cable car takes ten minutes to travel from the city center to a 1,000-meter-high summit. At 1,310 meters, Alto da Serra offers panoramic views of ten cities in the region. These two viewing experiences have different emphases: the cable car ride is part of the experience, while Alto da Serra focuses on the elevation and views of the cities.
Views and elevation
The cable car is located in the city center next to the bus station. Its ten-minute ride takes you to a summit at an altitude of 1,000 meters, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the entire region. Alto da Serra is higher, at 1,310 meters, and offers views of ten cities in the region. When choosing between the viewpoints, you can consider these differences: if you want to combine a ride with the view, the cable car offers this route to the summit. At Alto da Serra, the defining feature is the view of the ten cities.
Flowers and green spaces
Vitrine das Flores Park showcases more than 44 international rose varieties. It also features a succulent area, photo spots and a seasonal sunflower field. If you specifically want to see the field, factor its season into your plans. The different areas highlight a range of plants and photo opportunities.
At Parque Fonte Santo Agostinho e Santa Luzia, you will find a grove of native vegetation, a lake with fish, a bandstand and a playground. This gives the park a different focus from Vitrine das Flores: there, roses, succulents and photo spots shape the experience; here, vegetation, a lake, a bandstand and a playground come together. If you choose your outings according to your interests, you can weigh plant-focused experiences against a park with several different features.
Coffee and tastings
Empório do Vale offers visitors espresso as well as traditional and aged cachaça made on the estate for tasting. The selection also includes craft liqueurs with coffee, cappuccino, chocolate and seasonal fruit flavors. The range pairs familiar coffee notes with other flavors; the fruit flavors are explicitly seasonal.
CafĂ© Santa Serra offers a guided visit to SĂtio Santa Rosa. You will learn about the stages of coffee production and different bean varieties, as well as drying, roasting and grinding. A coffee tasting follows. The two experiences therefore have different focuses: EmpĂłrio offers espresso, cachaça and liqueurs to taste; the guided visit combines insights into coffee production with a tasting afterward.
A historical landmark
Igreja Nossa Senhora do Rosário was inaugurated on November 12, 1916, after thirteen years of construction. The date and lengthy construction period give the church a specific place in the history of Serra Negra. Alongside the attractions related to views, plants and coffee, this historical connection reveals another facet of the destination.
