The foundation stone of the Igreja Matriz of Santa Cruz da Conceição was laid on May 16, 1870. The first mass in the new church was celebrated on May 3, 1874. Two other events are part of the celebrations marking the municipality’s political and administrative emancipation: the Encontro de Carros Antigos e Antiguidades, with exhibitors from several cities, and the Torneio de Pesca.
