The 2026 municipal events calendar included a varied program in Poá featuring arts and crafts, dance, literature and festivals. The fixed-date entries from March to July have already passed as of October 11, 2026. If you would like to plan a later trip around an event, check the latest dates. The calendar overview nevertheless shows the range of cultural themes planned for the year.

A Cultural Program with Several Focus Areas

Several events were scheduled close together in March. The Semana do Artesanato (Craft Week) was planned for March 19–26: as part of the anniversary program, artisans were to be present at cultural venues. For March 22, the calendar listed the Semana da Água (Water Week) as an environmental tourism program featuring visits to mineral springs, spring areas and caves. A Passeio Ciclístico (cycling tour) was to take place on March 26 along cultural, historical and ecological routes. The planned themes thus ranged from arts and crafts to physical activity and environmental connections; the routes were part of the cycling tour, while the springs and caves were destinations on the water program.

Dance and literature also featured in the calendar. The Semana Municipal da Dança (Municipal Dance Week), with performances, festivals, workshops and masterclasses, was planned for the last week of April. Dance groups from Poá, the region and other places were expected to take part. In the first week of May, the Feira do Livro Poaense, or Flipoá for short, was to combine talks, meetings with writers, book sales and book exchanges with a literature week at schools. The planned formats had different emphases: the dance week brought performances and hands-on activities together, while Flipoá focused on discussions and exchanges about books.

Festivals, Music and Gatherings

An Encontro de Motoclubes (Motorcycle Club Gathering) was planned for May 21, featuring shows, food trucks, the sale of food products, snacks and craft-brewed beer. In June, the Festa Junina – Arraiá da Gente was to offer shows, an amusement park, arts-and-crafts stalls and food products from Northeastern Brazilian cuisine throughout the month. The Dia do Rock (Rock Day) was listed for July 13, with shows, food trucks, arts and crafts, food and craft breweries.

Other music events were also planned, but their dates were not given as specific calendar days. The Festa do Blues e Cerveja (Blues and Beer Festival) was to take place during a month in 2026, with shows and food; the exact date was to be confirmed with the organizers. The Festival de Música de Poá (Poá Music Festival) was planned to feature shows, competitions, award ceremonies and performances by bands and artists; here too, the date was to be confirmed with the organizers. If you would like to plan a trip specifically around one of these events, confirm the date with the organizers in advance.

Expoá was planned for September and/or October 2026. The orchid and ornamental plant fair was to include shows, arts and crafts, food and rural tourism routes. The calendar also listed the Dia da Cultura Nerd – RPG na Praça (Nerd Culture Day – RPG in the Square) for a first Sunday. Plans included cosplay competitions, meetings with authors and artists from the geek scene, and areas for role-playing and board games. Expoá thus focused on plants and rural tourism, while Nerd Culture Day centered on cosplay and games.

Places of Remembrance and Local Tradition

The obelisk in Poá was erected to commemorate D. Pedro I’s stay in the municipality. Another cultural tradition is associated with the Capela de Santo Antônio (Chapel of Saint Anthony) in central Poá: a Mass in honor of Saint Anthony was celebrated there on June 13. The celebration is considered an important religious tradition in the municipality and a custom passed down by older residents. Dates and details may vary. The obelisk and the chapel celebration thus represent two different forms of local remembrance: a monument with a historical connection and a religious custom passed down within the community.
