The 175-kilometer Rota Matuta makes cycling tourism a clear focus in Laranjal Paulista: the city is part of the route, which is self-guided and has signage. There is also a church with a distinctive history of construction, cultural venues, a lakeside circuit and events. When planning your stay, you can give different weight to cycling, culture and event dates.

Cycling and guided visits

Laranjal Paulista is part of the Rota Matuta, a 175-kilometer cycling tourism route. Signage along the route makes a self-guided tour possible. Check the wayfinding signs and conditions before cycling; both are part of preparing for your trip. This allows you to plan this independent cycling excursion as one focus of your visit.

The industrial tourism program offers a different format: when visits are available, guided visits to toy factories explain how locally produced toys are made. The program and participating factories may change; reservations are required when such visits take place. This distinguishes these visits from the self-guided Rota Matuta: factory visits are accompanied by a guide, while the route is navigated using signage.

Church and cultural venues

Igreja de São João Batista is located at Largo São João in the town center. Construction began in 1916 and was completed in 1952. Igreja Matriz de São João Batista is recognized as religious, cultural, artistic and historical heritage and has been elevated to the status of an archdiocesan shrine. Its architecture is eclectic, with Gothic elements clearly predominant. Its construction period, architectural style and ecclesiastical status offer different points of reference for understanding this place.

Centro Cultural Dr. Victor Rodrigues is used for exhibitions, workshops, classes, and literary or artistic soirées. Estação da Cultura e Turismo is located in a former railway complex and temporarily houses the municipal library. Coreto Municipal is used for free music and theater performances.

Festivals and events

Festa de São João Batista dates back to 1884. Its events include a novena, raising the Mastro, a solemn Mass and a procession. Festa do Divino Espírito Santo is also a traditional religious and cultural celebration; it takes place in the district of Laras, in the municipality of Laranjal Paulista. The specific program depends on the date. If attending a festival is to shape your stay, check the event dates before planning.

Walks and views

At Parque Pedro Zanella, a circuit around the lake offers a place to stroll. The park also has a playground, an illuminated fountain and a sign reading “Eu amo Laranjal” (“I love Laranjal”). Mirante Municipal e Praça do Ciclista offers a viewpoint overlooking the city, as well as places to rest, stroll and watch the sunrise and sunset. The two places offer different experiences: a loop around the lake or a view over the city, with opportunities to take in the changing light at the start and end of the day.

Farmers’ market, directions and accommodation search

Feira da Agricultura Familiar e Artesanato takes place every Saturday at Praça Armando de Salles Oliveira. If you plan to visit the market, check the schedule before setting out. From São Paulo, the route is via SP-280, including exit 99-A, followed by SP-097 and SP-300. You should also check road conditions before driving.

Then focus your accommodation search on what will shape your stay.
