If you want to make culture a focus of your stay, Itapevi offers several options: the public Parque Municipal de Itapevi “Vereador Luciano de Oliveira Farias – Bolor,” an art museum and municipal event programs. The main differences for planning are the arrangements: guided park visits must be arranged in advance, while later event programs may differ from the usual schedule. This lets you choose between a themed stay and a trip centered on a specific event.

Parque Municipal: Planning visits

The municipal park regulations of August 7, 2020 give priority to events and activities in the fields of education, culture, religion, recreation and the environment. Guided visits must be arranged in advance. The person submitting the request is responsible, while the park administration provides guidance and accompanies the visit. If you are planning this particular guided format, making arrangements before your visit is part of the planning.

Art museum and theater

The Museu de Arte do Parlamento de Itapevi “Emanuel von Lauenstein Massarani” was officially founded in August 2019 to promote the municipality’s cultural heritage through artists who live outside Itapevi. Its founding purpose connects local cultural heritage with artistic perspectives from outside the municipal area. The museum thus provides an art-focused option distinct from the time-specific event programs.

A municipal decree dated December 19, 2023, names the Teatro Municipal at Rua Irineu Chaluppe 65 as the preferred venue for Teatro Inclusivo. Specially adapted theater performances for people with autism spectrum disorder and their families are scheduled there twice a year. The same decree also names the Teatro Municipal as the preferred venue for Sarau Cultural. The program celebrates cultural diversity and promotes the exchange of artistic expressions from the free schools run by the Department of Culture. The two formats have different focuses: adapted performances on the one hand, and the exchange of artistic expressions on the other. Since later programming may change, check the specific schedule if you are traveling to attend a performance.

Festivals by theme and date

The Festival IT brings together food, art, crafts, culture and music for the community. It is organized by the municipal departments of Culture and Economic Development to promote artists and entrepreneurs from Itapevi. A municipal decree dated May 24, 2023, names Praça 18 de Fevereiro in Centro as the preferred venue and the third Saturday of each month as the preferred date; the departments responsible may decide otherwise. Check the specific event announcement if the festival is the reason for your trip.

MĂŞs do Hip Hop has a different thematic focus. A municipal decree dated November 7, 2023, provides for the annual celebration to be held preferably in September; the mayor or the Department of Culture may decide otherwise in accordance with the regulation. Breaking and graffiti sessions are scheduled at the Teatro Municipal as part of the month. Compared with Festival IT, which brings together food, art, crafts, culture and music, this event focuses more specifically on hip-hop culture. If you want to travel for this occasion, check the specific event announcement.

Graffiti as a cultural project

The “West Side Gallery – Phase 2” competition focused on painting walls along Avenida Feres Nacif Chaluppe. Between the police station and a bus stop near the CPTM Itapevi station, the project was intended to enrich Itapevi’s historical and cultural heritage.

You can tailor your stay to the program that interests you most.
