Descalvado offers nature and culture attractions that appeal to a variety of interests. Its waterfalls differ in height and the activities described; the cultural side ranges from local festivals and music to a castle replica with ties to Spain. This lets you decide in advance whether landscapes or culture should be the focus of your trip.

Waterfalls and Water Activities

Salto do Pântano is considered Descalvado’s most important tourist attraction. The waterfall is 42 m high, lies 7 km from the city center, and has a flow rate of 800 l/s. Its height, flow rate, and distance describe different aspects of the attraction. Options listed include sightseeing and adventure sports such as rappelling and tree climbing.

Cachoeira dos Índios is about 12 m high, lies in the Butiá district, and is 6 km from Descalvado’s city center. By comparison, Salto do Pântano is 42 m high; the two distances from the center differ by 1 km. Salto do Gasoso is about 20 m high, placing it between Salto do Pântano and Cachoeira dos Índios in height. This allows you to compare the three waterfalls by height; for two of the attractions, their location in relation to the city center is also given.

Sightseeing and adventure sports are also listed as options at Cachoeira dos Índios. Corredeiras do Pitangui is located on the Rio Mogi Guaçu; canoeing and rafting are associated with it. The nature theme therefore ranges from waterfall sightseeing and adventure activities to water sports on the river. If you plan to take part in one of these activities, check in advance what is available at the time of your visit.

Culture and Festival Traditions

The Museu Público Municipal de Descalvado is located in the Centro de Convivência Prof.ª Maria Aparecida Fioroni Kastein, commonly known as Fepasa, on Rua Dom Pedro II. If you plan to visit the museum, check its opening hours in advance.

The Museu Público Municipal “Maria Lúcia Sawaya Jank” covers topics such as Samba de Roda, Carnival, folk festivals, the history of local bands, immigration, and Indigenous material culture. Its range of themes extends from music and festivals to history and material culture. This variety offers several different points of interest for culture enthusiasts.

Castelo de Almanza is a replica of a castle built in Almanza, Spain. It preserves objects corresponding to those in the Spanish castle, including clocks, sculptures, and works of art. Its connection to the Spanish original is thus reflected both in the replica and in the objects mentioned.

Festa da Padroeira Nossa Senhora do Belém is a traditional festival in Descalvado with a daily religious program. It adds a religious tradition to the museum and festival themes. If you would like to plan your trip around the Festa, check the date of your planned visit in advance.
