Ituporanga offers different starting points for a trip: natural attractions with distinct features, insights into onion growing and cuisine, and cultural offerings. When planning, it is worth considering the specific nature of each attraction and putting your own interests first. This lets you shape your stay around the experiences that interest you most.

Nature Between Waterfall and Forest

Salto Grande is more than five meters high and almost 80 meters wide. Parque Ecológico Ingo Altenburg offers a different focus: it encompasses about two hectares of preserved Atlantic Rainforest and has elevated ecological walkways. These natural attractions therefore differ in their defining features—Salto Grande in the dimensions of the waterfall, and Parque Ecológico in its forest area and walkways.

Reaching the foot of Cachoeira Rio Bonito requires following a forest trail classified as difficult. This access requirement is a specific planning consideration to keep in mind when choosing a natural attraction.

Onion Growing and Cuisine

At Recanto da Cebola, visitors can follow the growing, harvesting, and grading of onions. Onion pie, onion quiche, and onion bread are served with colonial-style coffee. The onion theme is presented from two perspectives: the visitor activity focuses on agricultural processes, while the dishes feature onions in the cuisine. If you are interested in both, you can consider growing and dining as different aspects of the same named place.

Museum, Library and Religious Culture

Casa da Cultura / Museu / Biblioteca Municipal houses a museum with a collection of photographs, furniture, sacred—that is, religious—images, as well as objects and utensils belonging to the Indigenous population that lived in the region and was referred to as “Botocudos.” The complex also includes a municipal library with more than 12,000 books. The collection and library represent different cultural perspectives: one through its various groups of objects, the other through its extensive book collection.

The 50-meter-high Cruz do Louvor is part of Complexo Nossa Senhora de Lourdes e do Louvor in Ituporanga. This adds a religious focus to the museum and library. Unlike the collection, this complex centers on Cruz do Louvor as an architectural feature.

Recreation and Exercise

Parque da Cidade provides facilities for recreation and physical activity and is open to the community and visitors. Its general recreational purpose differs from attractions defined by a particular collection, a waterfall, or an onion theme. If you would also like to make time for exercise when planning your trip, this is a separate option to consider.

Trail conditions and facilities may change; check the current situation for each attraction before visiting.
