Rodeo traditions, local history, cycling routes and river landscapes offer different ways to experience Ibicaré. Praça do Rodeio and the Museu Municipal provide cultural points of interest, alongside signposted routes and activities on the Rio do Peixe. When planning your trip, you can decide whether culture, cycling or an activity on the water should take center stage.
Rodeo Traditions and Local History
On May 1, 2002, Ibicaré received the title “Capital Catarinense do Rodeio.” Praça do Rodeio is a place for visitors, with an imposing monument honoring the local rodeo tradition. The title and monument highlight different things: the title recognizes Ibicaré, while the monument honors the tradition in a public square.
The Museu Municipal de Ibicaré preserves the city’s history and memory through old artifacts, machinery, everyday objects and records. This offers a perspective not only on rodeo traditions but also on objects and records from urban life. The museum and Praça offer different perspectives: the collection and local history take center stage at the museum, while the monument in the square celebrates the local tradition.
Five Signposted Cycling Routes
The Rotas do Cicloturismo de Ibicaré comprise five signposted routes: Rota do Vale, Rota da Pedreira Velha, Rota do Pico da Antena, Rota dos Rios and Rota da Siriema. They connect rural landscapes, rivers, native forest and historic sections. The route network therefore brings together different aspects of nature and history rather than focusing on just one landscape theme.
The Rota Pedreira Velha runs from the center of Ibicaré through the upper part of town into the surrounding countryside and on to Gruta da Nossa Senhora de Lourdes. Its course links a starting point in town with a route through the countryside and a named destination. Conditions on the route may change; check the trail conditions before setting out.
Views and Water on the Rio do Peixe
Mirante Recanto do Vale offers panoramic views of the Rio do Peixe and is surrounded by mountains and preserved nature. Cachoeira da Linha Estreito, also known as Cachoeira do Estreito, is 11 km from the center of Ibicaré and offers calm waters amid the forest. Each spot offers a different perspective on the surroundings: from the Mirante, you can look out over the river, while at the Cachoeira, the forest and water take center stage.
On the way to the Cachoeira, an asphalt section is followed by a gravel road that is considered to be in good condition; its condition may vary seasonally. A road leads by car to a point close to the foot of the waterfall. Check road conditions before driving.
Rafting by Appointment
Rafting Aventura takes place on the rapids of the Rio do Peixe in Ibicaré. Departures at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. are available by appointment. Arrange your departure before you arrive. Rafting is another way to include the river in your trip, distinct from the panoramic view at the Mirante or the waterfall in the forest.
If you’re looking for a hotel in Ibicaré, a rafting departure that requires an appointment can provide a specific planning anchor: arrange a time, then decide how much time to devote to cultural sites, cycling routes and landscapes. This lets you plan your accommodation around the activities you have in mind for your trip.
