A former residence turned cultural venue, Italian cuisine, and trails leading to a riverbank and observation tower give Concórdia a range of ways to explore. If you’re looking for a hotel in Concórdia, you can first decide whether culture, food, or nature should shape your stay. Options range from community activities to forest and river scenery to views of a reservoir.

Culture and cuisine

The Attilio Fontana Memorial is located in Attilio Fontana’s former residence. It serves as a venue for cultural and artistic events, as well as community activities. Here, the building’s former residential use meets its current role as a cultural space.

Cantina Buon Apettito offers a colonial-style café as well as Italian dishes for lunch or dinner. This makes food a travel experience in its own right, which you can consider alongside cultural and nature activities. As details of the food and drink offerings may change, check what is currently available in advance.

Trails and scenery in the municipality

In the municipality of Concórdia, the Canafístula Trail passes through a well-preserved area of seasonal deciduous forest. The trail goes past a Canafístula tree that is more than a hundred years old; along the way, you can experience representative examples of local flora and lush scenery. Vegetation is the main focus here.

The moderate-difficulty Lajeado Cruzeiro Trail follows the Lajeado Cruzeiro and crosses small bridges, viewing decks, and a suspension bridge. The two routes offer different highlights: the Canafístula Trail focuses on forest and flora, while the Lajeado Cruzeiro Trail follows the stream and features several crossings.

Fritz Plaumann State Park

Fritz Plaumann State Park is also located in the municipality of Concórdia. Its approximately 2 km circular trail combines three attractions. It offers insights into different habitats and the region’s settlement history, as well as views of the reservoir formed by the Itá Hydroelectric Power Plant, environmental interpretation, and historical heritage. The trail therefore takes in nature, scenery, and regional history.

The Mirante Trail leads from the Caminho do Lago or via the Marrequinhas Trail to an observation tower, one of the highest points in the park. From the Caminho do Lago, it is 970 meters to the tower; from the end of the Marrequinhas Trail, it is 850 meters. From the Mirante Trail, you can see the protected area, its surroundings, and the reservoir.

The approximately 150-meter-long Marrequinhas Trail leads to the banks of the Rio dos Queimados. From its end, it is another 850 meters to the observation tower. This makes it possible to combine the riverbank as a destination with the onward route to the Mirante; the two trail sections mentioned have different lengths and endpoints.

The visitor center at Fritz Plaumann State Park is located in a restored former residence. Its exhibition space features illustrated information panels about the park’s history. The exhibition covers the park’s creation, local fauna and flora, the region’s economic cycles, and Fritz Plaumann. This adds information about nature and the regional economy to the themes explored on the trails and circular route.

Dogello Goss Square is also located in the municipality of Concórdia. Its features include Portuguese stone paving, landscaped flower beds, an illuminated fountain, and an acoustic shell. The square offers another point of interest alongside the forest and park landscapes.
