Flores Da Cunha combines historic buildings and religious heritage with wine, local cuisine and natural attractions. To plan your visit, you can first decide which aspect interests you most: architecture, a tasting, a walking trail or a viewpoint. Visiting conditions vary by location; it is worth arranging a visit in advance for private properties and specific event dates.
Historic Buildings and Religious Heritage
The building housing the Museu e Arquivo Histórico Pedro Rossi is a historic and architectural landmark in Flores Da Cunha. Built between 1943 and 1945 in the Art Deco style, it was inaugurated in 1946. The Campanário da Igreja Matriz de Flores Da Cunha has a different construction history: its construction began in 1946, and its restoration and redesign were inaugurated in 2023. These two sites therefore focus on different periods: for the museum, the years it was built and inaugurated; for the Campanário, a more recent restoration as well.
The Casarão dos Veronese, a historically significant building recognized for its cultural value, is located in the district of Otávio Rocha. An announcement dated January 7, 2026, said that admission for visits would remain free. Check current visiting options and dates in advance. The Campo Santo dos Imigrantes in the municipality of São Martinho, Travessão Martins, in Flores Da Cunha preserves 13 handcrafted wrought-iron crosses. It also contains the grave of pioneer Domenico Caldart, surrounded by a traditional stone wall.
The Eremitério Frei Salvador also has a religious connection: it is the traditional venue for the annual Romaria a Frei Salvador, held on the Feast of Corpus Christi and attended by thousands of people. The Corpus Christi date is therefore a specific point of reference if you plan to visit as part of this tradition.
Wine Route and Countryside Itinerary
The Rota dos Vinhos dos Altos Montes is located in Flores Da Cunha and Nova Pádua. A municipal tourism notice dated February 3, 2017, lists eleven wineries: Vinhos Boscato, Casa Venturini, Coop. Nova Aliança, Fabian, Fante, Luiz Argenta, VinĂcola Mioranza, Panizzon, Terrasul, Valdemiz and Viapiana. The description at the time included facility tours, tastings and the purchase of wines, sparkling wines and other products. Arrange specific visit dates with the winery in question.
The rural Roteiro Caminhos da Colônia offers a different perspective. The route runs between Caxias do Sul and Flores Da Cunha, reaches Flores Da Cunha, and returns to Caxias do Sul via the RS-122. Its clearly defined route distinguishes it from the wine route, which covers Flores Da Cunha and Nova Pádua. No connection between the two offerings is implied.
Nature Trails, Water and Views
At Vista do Rio das Antas, the river view takes center stage: the walking trail is four kilometers long and leads to three viewpoints, including one overlooking a bend in the river. Check current access information before planning your visit. The Trilha das Abelhas Nativas Erika Irma Glufke offers a different focus. It includes a meliponary collection featuring seven species of native stingless bees, for educational and conservation purposes.
At Cascata da Usina, a trail leads to a waterfall and a clear-water pool. The property is private and accessible only by prior appointment, so arrange your visit in advance. Parque da Gruta is another tourist attraction, featuring a natural grotto and a 25-meter-high waterfall. Here too, check access information before setting out.
Parque Natural São Francisco de Assis is a public nature park. It was established on October 28, 2009, to protect abiotic and biotic factors—that is, non-living and living components of the environment—and to promote environmental education and scientific studies. Parque da Vindima Eloy Kunz has a different focus: it is located on a hill and offers panoramic views of the city center.
Events and Local Cuisine
Various trade fairs are held at Parque da Vindima Eloy Kunz, including Mostra Flores and Feira de Inverno. The park also hosts Festa Nacional da Vindima, a festival celebrating grapes, wine and winemakers. As the program varies with each edition, check the dates for your intended travel period.
Menarosto has been the official typical dish of Flores Da Cunha since August 10, 2010. To prepare it, meat is slowly turned over embers without direct contact with flames or smoke. This gives wine and cuisine their own distinct places in your travel plans: the Rota dos Vinhos dos Altos Montes represents wineries, tastings and wine products; Menarosto represents a named local culinary tradition and its distinctive preparation method.
The offerings also differ in their timing: the Romaria takes place annually on the Feast of Corpus Christi, while visits to the private property at Cascata da Usina require a prior appointment. So if you would like to include several of these experiences in your stay, plan around their respective dates and visiting conditions.
