An elevated park with sweeping views of the city and a stone house whose construction tells the story of life in the late 19th century offer two distinct perspectives on Caxias do Sul. Between scenic views, immigration history, and art, you can experience different sides of the destination.

Panoramic Views and Attractions at Parque Mário Bernardino Ramos

Parque Mário Bernardino Ramos, also known as Parque de Eventos Festa da Uva, is located on elevated ground, surrounded by extensive green space, and offers panoramic views of the city. The park is home to the Monumento de Jesus Terceiro Milênio, a viewpoint with panoramic views of the city. The park thus combines views across Caxias do Sul with a monument explicitly described as a viewpoint.

The park is also home to the Memorial Atelier Zambelli. On display are molds for religious figures, sculptures, and ornaments for churches, chapels, and homes, created by members of the Zambelli family. The Memorial Atelier is temporarily closed.

Casa de Pedra: Building and Living in the 19th Century

The Museu Ambiência Casa de Pedra, also known as Casa de Pedra, is housed in a historic stone house. The stones set in clay mortar and the pinewood openings recall the challenges immigrants faced when building their own homes toward the end of the 19th century. Its construction therefore connects a specific building with the practical question of how people could build a home of their own at the time. The museum opened on February 14, 1975, the centenary year of Italian immigration to Rio Grande do Sul.

Places of Remembrance and Art in the Wider Caxias do Sul Destination

Other historical sites offer different perspectives. The Museu Municipal de Caxias do Sul was established by Municipal Law No. 02 of October 3, 1947, and is one of the city’s most representative places of remembrance. The Museu do Imigrante is located at the Monumento Nacional ao Imigrante. Its exhibition explores the work of women in Caxias and their contribution to the city’s development.

Igreja São Pelegrino features works by Aldo Locatelli, a replica of Michelangelo’s Pietà in the atrium, and bronze doors with high reliefs by Augusto Murer. Pope Paul VI donated the replica of the Pietà to mark the 100th anniversary of Italian immigration. The Réplicas de Caxias do Sul de 1885 complex is also a historical point of interest: Parque de Eventos Festa Nacional da Uva has included it since 1978.

Natural History, Green Spaces, and Trails

The Museu de Ciências Naturais at Universidade de Caxias do Sul is a center for the study of biological sciences, with academic, scientific, and cultural functions, as well as a role in sharing knowledge. The museum’s permanent exhibitions and the UCS Aquarium are open to visitors Tuesday through Friday from 8 to 11:30 a.m. and from 1:30 to 6 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. Check visiting hours before your trip.

Parque Getúlio Vargas, also known as Parque dos Macaquinhos, is one of the most important public recreation areas in Caxias do Sul. Its facilities include extensive green space, a bike path, a skate park, and a stage for shows and events. The wider destination therefore offers public green spaces with various facilities alongside its cultural attractions.

Two routes offer different durations and experiences for getting active. Cicloturismo da Ponte follows an old Tropeiro trail to Ponte do Korff, a symbol of an economic activity from the early 20th century. The cycling route is 21 kilometers long, takes four hours, and is of moderate difficulty. Caminhada na Gruta da 3º Légua is a Grade I historical and cultural hiking trail that takes three hours. These times provide a concrete basis for planning your day. Check current trail conditions and schedules in advance.

Another distinctive place to visit in the wider Caxias do Sul destination is the Presépio de Rolhas, created by the Molin family. It is made up of around 15,000 corks and 11 buildings, 9 of which are motorized. Check current visiting options before your trip.
