A former railway station now used as a cultural center, a large parade of floats, and an agricultural fair offer different ways to experience Caraúbas. Its cultural sites and event editions reveal different sides of the city: from a building with a new purpose to festivals and a fair with a strong agricultural focus.

Cultural Sites and History

The former railway station in Caraúbas is now used as the Casa de Cultura. The building thus connects its former role as a railway station with its present-day cultural use. If you plan to visit the Casa de Cultura, check in advance what visitor access is available.

The city’s 2018 tourism campaign highlighted other tourism potential: the Casarões in the city center, the Igreja de São Sebastião, and the Casa do Sabe Muito. These names add other possible cultural destinations to the Casa de Cultura. Before planning a specific visit, it is worth checking what visitor access is available at each place.

Festivals and Parades

In 2025, the 18th Festa de São Sebastião was a traditional event featuring religious, cultural, and tourism-related performances. The 2026 edition was planned to run for eleven days, with more than 30 confirmed program items, including religious and cultural events as well as major shows at the Praça de Eventos. The editions mentioned therefore differ both in their respective programs and in when they took place.

Thousands of people gathered at the event venue during the 2026 Festa de São Sebastião. Organization, planning, and investment ensured comfort, safety, and accessibility during that edition. These details refer to the 2026 festival and do not automatically describe future events.

The Arraiá das Caraubeiras offers a different kind of event: its opening is traditionally marked by a large parade of floats through the city. The 20th edition was announced for 2025. The parade gives the Arraiá its own distinct character alongside the religious and cultural performances of the Festa de São Sebastião.

Expoeste: Agriculture and Gastronomy

Agriculture was the focus of the 8th Expoeste in 2026. The fair was considered one of the largest agricultural fairs in northeastern Brazil and the largest edition ever held in Caraúbas. It hosted a Brazilian Santa Inês breed show and a Northeastern Brazilian Boer breed show. Gir Leiteiro and Sindi breeds also took part in shows that counted toward the national ranking. The different show classifications give the agricultural program a distinct profile.

A culinary highlight was also planned for 2026: the Concurso Culinário Chica da Esquina was scheduled to take place alongside the Expoeste celebrations. The competition was intended to promote regional gastronomy and revive traditional cuisine. Thus, the event program included an explicitly culinary theme alongside the agricultural shows.

Accommodation and Event Dates

During the 8th Expoeste in 2026, accommodation in Caraúbas was at full capacity. Visitors came from several regions of Rio Grande do Norte and from other states. If you are traveling to an Expoeste edition, check accommodation availability early. The event date is therefore an important factor in your planning, especially if the fair itself is the reason for your trip.

You can weigh the different themes according to the purpose of your trip: cultural sites offer a different focus from an agricultural fair with shows and ranking points, while the festival programs have their own religious and cultural accents. When choosing your stay, consider which of these sides of Caraúbas you want to focus on during your trip.
