Trails, Waterfalls and Rock

Pico da Coragem is approximately 520 meters high and has ramps for hang gliding, paragliding and free flight. This makes it a clear focal point for flight activities. Cachoeira da Saudade lies along the 2.5-kilometer trail to Pico. The figures describe different features: approximately 520 meters refers to the mountain’s height, while 2.5 kilometers is the length of the trail along which the waterfall is located.

Caminho da Coragem is a waterfall-lined trail used for walks. The Japeri–Seropédica crossing has different features: it starts in central Japeri, includes a walking route and offers the opportunity to swim in the river. This lets you compare a waterfall-lined walking experience with a crossing on foot that may include swimming. Starting in the center is another useful point of reference for this crossing.

Pedra Lisa is a rock face with a 90-degree incline and is used for rappelling. Unlike Caminho da Coragem, where walks along a waterfall-lined trail are the focus, this is a specific rappelling activity on the rock face. This comparison helps you distinguish between the outdoor activities by the type of movement involved, rather than by place names alone.

Railway Heritage and Other Interests

The former Belém station is now known as Estação Ferroviária de Japeri. It opened in 1858 and is protected as national railway cultural heritage. Both names refer to the same station: Belém is its former name, while Estação Ferroviária de Japeri is the name by which it is known today. Its opening year and listed heritage status give the station a historical dimension alongside the outdoor activities.

Japeri Golfe is Brazil’s first public golf course and adds another theme to the area’s profile. A municipal description from 2023 mentioned training opportunities for visitors. If golf is relevant to your stay, check before visiting whether such training is offered.
