Matelândia combines an urban green space in the town center with rural destinations across the municipality. This distinction is useful when choosing a focus for your stay: Parque Farroupilha is in the center, while Circuito Sabiá and several waterfall destinations are located in the municipality. Urban greenery, a cycling route, farms, and waterfalls offer different perspectives on the town and its surroundings.

Urban greenery in the center

Parque Farroupilha covers 22,000 m² and is an urban green space in the center of Matelândia. Its paths are paved with concrete pavers, encircle the grounds, and connect with one another within the park. Both the size of the park and its network of paths shape the character of this central destination. Travelers looking to include an urban green space in their plans will find a specific point of interest here. The paths run around the grounds and meet within the park.

Cycling route, farms, and local culture

The cycling route known as Circuito Sabiá is included in the municipal Pedala Paraná program. Within the municipality, the Circuito is a tourist attraction made up of farm families who welcome visitors to their farms. Cycling and the families’ farms thus belong to the same theme, without any particular visiting order being prescribed. Gruta do Rio Sabiá lies halfway along Circuito Sabiá. Moinho de Vento (Windmill) is also one of the municipality’s places of interest. Visitors can therefore choose between the route and its farm connections, the grotto as a point along the route, and the windmill as another destination.

The XIII Quermesse de Inverno offers a cultural connection. It celebrates local commerce and the agriculture of family farms. The event thus complements the themes of cycling routes and farms with a focus on local commerce. Travelers interested in this connection between agriculture and local life can consider it as a separate aspect of their trip planning.

Waterfalls and visiting conditions

Cachoeira do Tio João is described as a recreational area in a natural, peaceful setting. Camping is available on the private property; lunch is offered by prior reservation. Check in advance whether camping and lunch will be available during your visit, and plan your reservation accordingly.

A trail at Cachoeira do Matinhos was built by motorcycle hikers. It can be used on foot, by bicycle, or by motorcycle. Check accessibility before planning a specific trip. Cachoeira Facchi is located by the road in Linha São Roque and is not set up for sightseeing. Cyclists and hikers use it as a strategic stop for photographs. It should therefore not be treated as a waterfall destination set up for visits.

Cachoeiras da Fazenda Boito consists of two large waterfalls and one small one. They are located on property inhabited by settlers, on the boundary between the communities of Rio Sabiá and Vila Brasil. Access is permitted only with authorization. This condition should be considered first when planning: a visit cannot be assumed without the required permission. Together with the different conditions at Tio João and Facchi, Boito illustrates why it is worth considering each waterfall destination separately, according to its specific visiting arrangements.

Choosing a focus for your stay

The park is located in the town center; Circuito Sabiá, Moinho de Vento, and the rural waterfall destinations are in the municipality. By keeping these geographic areas distinct and taking the respective reservation and authorization requirements into account, travelers can plan their trip around the experiences they actually want.
