Fazenda Rio Grande can be considered from two perspectives when planning a trip: nature and culture. The town is about 20 km from Curitiba and is accessible mainly via BR-116. From Curitiba, Linha Verde (BR-476) also leads south and connects to BR-116, as do Avenida das Américas and Estrada da Fazenda Rio Grande. These roads provide additional guidance for getting there. Since roadworks or traffic can affect road conditions, it is advisable to check the current route before setting off.
Nature: two distinct focal points
Parque Chimanski covers more than 400,000 m²; its address is in the rural area of Fazenda Rio Grande. Its large size gives it a different natural character from Parque de Preservação Ambiental Miro Siqueirense. The latter is part of a conservation unit dedicated to protecting wildlife and lies within the area influenced by the Rio Iguaçu. The two parks thus represent different relationships with nature: Parque Chimanski is defined by its size and rural location, while Miro Siqueirense is defined by wildlife protection and its connection to the Rio Iguaçu. If nature is important to your stay, you can take these differences into account when planning your trip, rather than treating both places as similar park destinations.
Churches, archaeology, and culture
The Ciclorrota Capocuense passes by Igreja de Santo António, which is believed to be more than 100 years old, as well as Igreja Ucraniana do Passo Amarelo and Seminário do Padre Léo. The route brings these different landmarks together in a shared cultural setting. Another tourist attraction is Igreja Matriz São Gabriel da Virgem Dolorosa.
A different perspective is offered by the archaeological site SĂtio Treviso in the Estados neighborhood: archaeological research is conducted there, and more than 300 ceramic fragments and remains of fire pits have been found. These discoveries add archaeological evidence to the churches and places along the Ciclorrota. The local Centro de Tradições GaĂşchas (CTG) is also part of the cultural life: it hosts typical events such as the Rodeio crioulo. The event schedule may vary. If you want to plan for an event like this, check the specific dates before your trip.
Search for hotels based on your interests
Are you more interested in the parks’ natural features, the churches and archaeological history, or a cultural event? This question can help you decide how to prioritize the town’s different attractions. The Ciclorrota connects several named cultural landmarks, while the two parks offer different natural settings and conservation focuses.
