When looking for a vacation rental in Araucária, you can choose your destination based on the themes you want to shape your stay: preserved architecture and local history, lakeside walks, views of the Passaúna Reservoir, or tours of family-run farms. These themes appeal to different interests: historic sites and collections sit alongside landscape and agriculture. This makes it possible to explore Araucária according to your own interests, without requiring a set itinerary.

Architecture and Historic Traces

Casa do Cavalo Baio is one of the few surviving examples of 19th-century architecture in Araucária. It was built around 1870 and listed as a heritage site by the state of Paraná on December 26, 1978; traditional construction features have been preserved. The construction period and the date of its heritage listing mark two distinct stages in the house’s history and help explain its historical significance.

The Tingüi-Cuera Museum opened on February 11, 1980, in the building of the former Companhia São Patrício, and moved in 1982 to the former facilities of Indústria Torres. Its moves between former locations are part of its history.

At the Polish Immigration Memorial, the collections include photographs by Thomaz Coelho from the early 20th century and photographs by João Urban from the 1980s. The Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora dos Remédios is the main attraction in Araucária’s central square. A tour of the São Miguel neighborhood ends at the São Miguel Chapel. These places offer different cultural highlights: architecture, photography and religious buildings.

Lakeside, Views and Rural Experiences

Visitors can walk along the lake at Parque da Cachoeira. Turismo Rural Rotas de Guajuvira offers tours of family-run farms. A viewpoint in the São Miguel area offers a beautiful view of the Passaúna Reservoir. This gives you several options: a walk by the water, a view of the reservoir, or tours of family-run farms. Aldeia da Solidariedade is also worth seeing.

The BR-476, also known as the Rodovia do Xisto, provides a route reference: it passes through Araucária and is paved. To choose what suits you best, consider whether you are more interested in local history, waterside scenery or rural tours. These interests provide a concrete starting point for your search for a vacation rental.

A Culinary Highlight

Pirogue is one of Araucária’s traditional dishes and adds a culinary highlight to the area’s historical and scenic attractions.

Paraná Beyond Araucária

The wider destination of Paraná also offers expansive natural attractions. Iguaçu National Park is a 169,695.88-hectare World Heritage site; its waterfall system stretches for almost three kilometers, with vertical drops of up to 80 meters. Vila Velha State Park preserves sandstone formations and representative areas of Paraná’s original grasslands. About 93 percent of Ilha do Mel is protected by conservation areas. The island can be reached by boat; once there, travel is permitted only on foot or by bicycle. Before visiting the island, check current boat services and applicable mobility rules.
