Marituba brings together preserved railway heritage, religious history and a range of leisure activities. Alongside historical and cultural landmarks, visitors can explore trails in the wildlife refuge, enjoy activities on the river and visit water parks. Each attraction has its own character and offers different ways to get to know the municipality.

Railway Heritage and Local History

Elements of the former Belém–Bragança railway line have been preserved in Marituba. These include a restored water tower, some original houses from the workers’ district, a workshop and a locomotive shed. The railway heritage thus comprises several different historical traces: technical facilities as well as houses from the workers’ district. This combination is a distinctive reference point in the town’s history.

Another historical landmark is Igreja Católica Menino Deus, located at Praça Antônio Perdigão Bastos. The church was built during the colonization of this area. The Círio do Menino Deus is also part of Marituba’s cultural heritage: it is recognized as intangible cultural heritage of the municipality. Built heritage and religious tradition thus offer two distinct ways of engaging with the town’s history and culture.

Marituba is also one of 13 municipalities on the Belém–Bragança tourist route. The name Belém–Bragança therefore appears in two contexts: the preserved heritage of a former railway line and a tourist route. The two names refer to different things.

Trails and Outdoor Activities

At RefĂşgio de Vida Silvestre MetrĂłpole da AmazĂ´nia, visitors can walk or cycle along the da Seringueira, Samambaia, Quati and Circuito da Pirelli trails, as well as adventure trails. The names clearly identify the trails on offer; the option of going on foot or by bicycle provides different ways to get around.

Marituba Tropical, on the Mocajatuba River, offers a different kind of leisure experience. Visitors can go stand-up paddleboarding, canoeing and sport fishing there. These water-based activities complement the trails in the wildlife refuge: Marituba offers both activities centered on the water and opportunities to explore named trails on foot or by bicycle.

Water Parks and Natural Pools

Balneário Paraíso das Pedras has natural pools and a 52,000-square-meter water park with numerous attractions. These include a tipping bucket and a water slide for adults. Here, natural pools are combined with a water park whose named attractions offer a variety of experiences.

Floresta Park also has natural pools, with a waterfall. Reserva Park likewise offers natural pools, as well as leisure and play areas for children. The features of these leisure spots set them apart: ParaĂso das Pedras has a large water park and named attractions, Floresta adds a waterfall to its pools, and Reserva Park specifically features areas for children.

Plan Your Stay Around Your Interests

The municipality’s attractions vary considerably; knowing what you’re interested in can help you find a hotel that suits the character of your trip.
