Monte Belo has two clear geographical reference points: the BR-491 highway crosses Monte Belo, and the Rio Muzambo flows through the municipality. Cultural sites in the Centro, religious and folkloric traditions, and the coffee tradition complement these geographical features. When planning your trip, it is worth distinguishing between the cultural sites firmly located in the town center, the historic cycling project, and topics in the surrounding area.

Cultural Sites in the Centro and Traditions

Two precise addresses locate cultural sites in the Centro: the Monte Belo bandstand is at Avenida Francisco Wenceslau dos Anjos s/n; the Igreja Matriz Imaculada Conceição is at Praça Dr. Zacarias Bueno, also in the Centro. The Estação Ferroviária de Monte Belo offers a different focus: because of its historical significance, it is considered national railway cultural heritage. The wind instruments of Banda Lira Sta. Cecília are also part of Monte Belo’s cultural heritage. Specific locations and a musical cultural asset thus stand side by side—a cultural perspective that extends beyond individual buildings.

Monte Belo’s folkloric traditions include Folia de Reis. The Festa Religiosa de São Sebastião and the celebration of Nossa Senhora de Fatima are also religious festivals. Carnival is considered lively and attractive. An invitation dated June 30, 2025, announced a gathering of folkloric groups in Monte Belo, where local folk culture could be experienced firsthand.

Cycling, Coffee and the Surrounding Area

In 2021, the Belo-Pedal project listed 20 possible cycling routes in Monte Belo. This figure reflects the project’s status that year and illustrates cycling as a topic in the municipality at the time. The cycling routes therefore have a different timeframe from the cultural sites with their specific addresses.

A municipal post dated September 29, 2025, about the fourth Concurso de Cafés Especiais de Monte Belo notes that the quality and tradition of local coffee were celebrated there. The cycling project and the coffee competition have different focuses: possible routes on the one hand, and recognition of coffee on the other. The district of Juréia, which is administered by the municipality, lies in the area surrounding Monte Belo. The Encontro de Carros de Boi is held there annually; dairies also make cheese and sweets.

The Rio Muzambo is also part of Juréia’s history: in the past, the river flowing through the district attracted fishermen. On weekends, people gathered in bars and in the square by the former Mogiana railway station. These local details complement the festivals and food production with historical aspects of the nearby district.
