Açailândia brings together a large environmental and recreational park, a tourist route focused on water resources, and sites tied to the city’s history. When planning your visit, you can choose between nature and outdoor activities, water-related themes, and culture in the urban landscape.
Nature and outdoor activities at Parque Ambiental
Parque Ambiental de Açailândia covers more than 177,000 m² dedicated to environmental protection and recreation. Almost 90 percent of the area preserves local biodiversity and native vegetation. This gives the park a clear conservation focus, while recreation is also part of its concept.
A cycling path, a Cooper track, and multi-purpose sports courts have been revitalized at Parque Ambiental. These three amenities offer different options: the cycling path is for people who want to spend time riding through the park; the Cooper track and sports courts add to the recreational facilities. Together with the park’s large area and the high proportion of preserved vegetation, they make it a place to visit where natural surroundings and recreation go hand in hand.
Rota das Águas as a thematic route
Açailândia’s Tourism Secretariat officially introduced Rota das Águas in March 2026. The route is intended to promote the city’s water resources as part of sustainable ecotourism. Its intended purpose thus differs from that of Parque Ambiental, whose area is dedicated to environmental protection and recreation.
Rota das Águas brings together swimming facilities, pousadas, and recreational facilities in a structured route. These are the offerings included in the route’s description; bringing them together gives it its thematic structure.
Squares and Açailândia’s history
Nova Praça do Pioneiro features green spaces, a children’s playground, a walking path, benches, and modern lighting. Through monuments and tributes, the project commemorates Açailândia’s first residents and tells the city’s story. Here, a landscaped square is combined with a remembrance space explicitly focused on the city’s history.
Praça do Pioneiro is a traditional place for visits and family gatherings. Together with the historical focus of Nova Praça do Pioneiro, the squares show that Açailândia’s public life can be explored not only through nature and water-related themes, but also through places of remembrance and gathering.
Culture and culinary character
The June festival group Matutos do Rei is part of the city’s cultural identity. It has cultural, social, and economic significance and represents Açailândia at the regional and national levels. This adds a cultural perspective to the picture of the city that extends beyond its individual squares.
Cuisine and tourism also came together at a joint event: the 2026 edition of Festival Gastronômico e Turístico de Açailândia – Sabores da Pré-Amazônia brought together more than 60 participating businesses.
To choose the focus of your trip, compare the two: Parque Ambiental combines conservation and recreation, while Rota das Águas puts water resources and ecotourism in the foreground. Squares, city history, Matutos do Rei, and the festival add cultural and culinary dimensions to these themes in Açailândia.
