Mišići is an urban settlement on the regional road from Milići to Zeleni Jadar, situated on both banks of the Zeleni Jadar. The river is the main watercourse in the local community area. The municipality of Milići is also part of the Zvornik fishing area; fishing there is permitted exclusively on the Jadar River, while Mišići lies on both banks of the Zeleni Jadar. This distinction between the river names is worth keeping in mind when fishing.

River, Floodplain and Hills

The Zeleni Jadar has a floodplain in the local community area that is suitable for cultivation. The rest of the area is hilly and predominantly suited to livestock farming and fruit growing. The local community therefore brings together two different types of landscape: the river plain and the hills, with their agricultural potential. When comparing possible destinations, you can first consider whether you would rather focus on the riverside setting or the wider rural landscape.

Culture and Mining History in Milići

The Mining Museum in Dom rudara displays awards and documents on the origins and history of the “Boksit” company. It also features mineral samples, work and protective equipment, written documents, and an audio and video archive. At the top of Rajkov Tower is the “Nekad i sad” exhibition: 50 photographs show the development of “Boksit” over 50 years and Milići as a modern urban settlement. The tower also offers a 360-degree panoramic view of the surrounding landscape.

The “Boksit” permanent outdoor exhibition includes mining equipment, from ore cars used in 1959 to large loading and transport machines. The “Park velikana” is divided into three separate sections for Serbian, Russian and European figures and includes 36 monuments. The busts on display include those of Tesla, Picasso, Mozart and Aristotle. The “Jovan i tri sestre: Angelina, Đurđa i Drina” Botanical Garden is in the centre of Milići. Covering 2,000 m², it contains 137 exotic trees from all continents; the number may change over time.

The “Supač polje” Sports and Recreation Centre is also in Milići. The municipality organises the “Avgustovski dani kulture i sporta”. “Boksit” organises and supports the “LJetnji festival kulture i sporta” as its main sponsor. If a festival is the reason for your trip, check the current dates before booking. For visits to the museum or tower, it is advisable to check the latest opening hours.
