Hiking and Remembrance on Dipijeva Staza

The marked Dipijeva Staza hiking route leads from Doboj via Bukov vrat, Bjelavičko jezero, Juke, Srijetež and Žitelji to Teševo. The sequence of starting point, intermediate places and destination makes the route’s character clear: it passes through several named places and is therefore different from a single viewpoint.

The memorial connection of Dipijeva Staza is also evident in a commemorative hike: it began in Doboj and continued to Teševsko brdo, where the monument to Edib Dogdibegović Dipi stands. On October 17, 2025, the march began with a wreath-laying at the monument to martyrs and fallen fighters in Doboj. The starting point and destination have different connections to remembrance: in Doboj, the wreath-laying took place at the start, while the Dipi monument stands at Teševsko brdo. This allows the hike to be considered both as a route and as a memorial theme.

Views and Remembrance at Hurije

The Hurije viewpoint lies above the settlement of Doboj. From there, the panorama stretches from Kakanj to the mountain peaks; Hurije is also suitable for photography. Dipijeva Staza passes through several named places, while Hurije brings views and photography together at a single named point. This makes it possible to compare two different focuses when planning a trip.

At the summit stands a monument dedicated to fallen soldiers; next to it, a large flagpole flies the flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Hurije monument commemorates the Kakanj anti-aircraft defense unit, which had a firing position there in early 1992. This gives the viewpoint a specific historical connection in addition to its panorama. It is therefore different from the Dipi monument at Teševsko brdo: at Hurije, the remembrance is of the anti-aircraft unit and its position at that site; at Teševsko brdo, it is of Edib Dogdibegović Dipi.

Distinctive Themes in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina

Hutovo Blato Nature Park is a distinctive nature destination in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It lies in southeastern Herzegovina on the left bank of the Neretva, within the municipalities of Čapljina and Stolac, and covers 8,000 hectares. The Mithraeum dates from the 3rd or 4th century AD and is considered the oldest national monument in Jajce. These examples offer a different focus from Doboj’s hiking and memorial themes: Hutovo Blato represents marshland and birdwatching, while Jajce represents fortress architecture and cultural and historical heritage.
