Skiing in Rostovo, hiking on Kalin and rural cultural heritage in the Babići Ethno Village offer distinct highlights for a stay in Čardaci.

Skiing in Rostovo

The Rostovo Ski Centre is located at an elevation of 1,160 metres. Its ski slopes have a grass base and are equipped with a snowmaking system. The grass base describes the slope surface, while the snowmaking system is additional technical equipment. The centre has two Sidro-type drag lifts: one is 500 metres long and the other 900 metres. The longer lift is therefore 400 metres longer. Floodlights allow night skiing; check in advance whether it is available on your travel dates. Ski equipment can be rented at the ski centre; availability may vary by season. There is a café-bar at the foot of the ski lifts; the availability of this visitor amenity may also vary by season.

Hiking on Kalin

The Rostovo–Kalin hiking route is classified as moderate. A marked trail to the summit of Kalin begins at Hotel Rostovo and passes through deciduous and coniferous forests as well as birch groves. The classification indicates the level of challenge; trail conditions can affect the practical difficulty, so check them locally. The highest summit of Kalin reaches 1,530 metres above sea level. This highest summit is therefore 370 metres above the elevation of the Rostovo Ski Centre.

The Orlovina peak on Kalin offers views of the Vranica massif. A spring is located at the foot of Kalin; confirm seasonal water availability locally. The summit elevation, the view and the spring are distinct points of reference for exploring Kalin: they relate to the highest summit, the view from Orlovina peak and a location at the foot of the mountain.

Road orientation

Two details are useful for road orientation: an asphalt road connects Bugojno with Rostovo, and Rostovo is on the Bugojno–Novi Travnik route. Check road conditions before travelling in winter. The asphalt connection identifies Bugojno as a road reference for Rostovo; the route location also places Rostovo on the Bugojno–Novi Travnik route.

Cultural heritage and accommodation

The cultural offerings take two distinct forms: Rostovo has a small ethnographic exhibition featuring old houses, carriages and tools, while the Babići Ethno Village presents rural cultural heritage through authentic blacksmiths’ workshops, stables, granaries and domestic animals. When choosing a cultural experience, the small exhibition in Rostovo and the village-based presentation of rural heritage in Babići are different formats.

Accommodation in traditional wooden houses is available at the Babići Ethno Village; check availability before your trip. The construction style is a concrete point of reference if the type of accommodation matters when choosing where to stay. Guests can rent mountain bikes at the Babići Ethno Village; check current availability in advance. In winter, guests can ride sleds through the village; also check whether this activity is available on your dates.
