You can plan a stay in Ravno around several different interests: Vjetrenica Cave and its underground fauna, cycling routes of varying lengths, and the cultural history of Ravno and Zavala.

Vjetrenica Cave and Biospeleology

Vjetrenica Cave is 7,324 metres long and is considered one of the world's most important and species-rich hotspots for underground fauna. The cave area and its buffer zone are part of the protected Vjetrenica–Popovo Polje landscape. This gives Ravno a distinctive nature focus: the area's importance for underground wildlife.

The small Biospeleological Museum is located 300 metres from the cave entrance and displays a collection from the cave's exploration to date. It adds a research perspective to the nature theme. For your visit, it is advisable to check the current visitor arrangements in advance.

Cycling: a short loop and a longer section

A guided, 10-kilometre cycling loop runs near Vjetrenica Cave. It follows the former narrow-gauge Ćiro railway and trails through Popovo Polje; the start and finish are at the cave car park. As tour arrangements may change, check the latest information before including it in your plans.

A separate section of the Ćiro Route runs from Čapljina to Ravno: it is 60 kilometres long, has 938 metres of ascent, is paved and is rated moderate. The Ćiro Route continues from Čapljina to Ravno, then on to Zavala and Vjetrenica Cave. It is worth checking the latest route information when planning, as the route may change.

The two distances represent different planning scales: a guided 10-kilometre loop with a fixed start and finish, and a 60-kilometre section rated moderate, with the elevation gain specified. This lets you assess which cycling plan suits you based on distance, route type and difficulty rating.

Cultural monuments in Ravno and Zavala

In Ravno, the Church of St. Mitre with its old graves and the Serbian Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity are national monuments of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In Zavala, in the municipality of Ravno, the monastery and church are listed as a protected architectural monument among the national monuments. The archaeological site of Crkvina, also a national monument, is located there as well. Together, these places offer different ways to explore sacred architecture and archaeological heritage.

The town's history also includes traditional crafts of the past: stoneworking, stonemasonry and stone construction. This craft tradition is another cultural highlight alongside the churches and monuments.

Cheese traditions and accommodation

Traditional foods of Ravno include cheese preserved in oil and cheese matured in a leather sack. The two products represent different ways of making cheese. If you are specifically looking for a tasting opportunity, it is best to check in advance whether these products are currently offered by visitor establishments.

Hotel Stanica is located in a former Austro-Hungarian railway station in Ravno. It offers a wine cellar and dining.
