The Vidikovac Dračevice viewpoint is located at the ninth kilometre of the M.6.1 road from Mostar to Nevesinje, just beyond the settlement of Dračevice. It was described as a tourist attraction in 2021; check locally to see what facilities are currently available. This combination offers an initial overview of possible highlights of a stay: views, history and activity.

Getting there and finding your way

Two bus route details are relevant when planning your journey. Mostar Bus route 16 runs between Sjeverni logor, Dračevice and Podveležje. A Mostar Bus timetable dated 16 June 2025 also lists route 13 between Sjeverni Logor and Dračevice. Check current departure times before travelling.

Cycling around Dračevice

Bike Park Velež has an information point in Dračevice, in front of the cultural centre; check locally whether this information is still current. The park offers 200 km of mapped and marked forest and gravel trails, primarily intended for mountain biking. One specifically named MTB route, Velež Brasina–Kaočina–Gornji Banjdol–Dedići, passes through Dračevice. Its description dates from 2024; trail conditions may change. The Bike Park recommends using the marked trails with the help of small maps or GPS devices. Check trail markings and safety conditions before setting off. The 200 km figure describes the scale of the park, while the named route establishes a specific connection to Dračevice.

Views and historic roads

Local activists built a promenade at Vidikovac Dračevice in 2024; check its condition and access locally. In clear weather, the promenade offers a view of the tower of Herceg Stjepan Kosača. From the viewpoint, the Buna River is also visible along almost its entire course; visibility depends on the weather and season. The viewpoint is on an old Austro-Hungarian road. A 500-metre section of this road was cleared and made accessible again. As the road surface may change, it is advisable to check its condition before visiting. The promenade and road section appeal to different interests: one is about the views, the other about the historic route.

Cultural and landscape connections

A mosque was built in Dračevice. This gives the place a religious connection alongside its landscape and road-related attractions. Bekatova Cave lies in the Crvene stijene below the village of Podveleža and above Dračevice. It consists of a single undivided cavity—that is, one continuous space rather than several separate chambers. Nearby, the old town of Blagaj is considered a silent witness to the thousand-year history of Bosnia and Herzegovina. While the old road at the viewpoint provides a direct connection to a specific route, Blagaj adds a distinct historical dimension to the surrounding area.
