Gaschurn brings together local history, themed trails and alpine activities. The parish church highlights Neo-Romanesque architecture and painting; the Gagla Trail leads to historic buildings and scenic spots. Via ferratas and the Silvretta landscape offer a different focus. This lets you shape your stay around culture, scenery or activity, without having to follow a fixed itinerary.

Parish Church, Tanzlaube and Museum

The historic Gaschurn parish church, built in the Neo-Romanesque style, was consecrated in 1869. Its altar and ceiling paintings were created by brothers Franz and Jakob Bertle in the late Nazarene style. The last surviving Tanzlaube in the Montafon stands directly next to the church. Together, the church and Tanzlaube provide a tangible starting point for exploring architectural history and regional cultural heritage.

The Gaschurn Alpine and Tourism Museum explores the history of mountaineering and tourism in the Montafon through permanent and temporary exhibitions. In 2026, it is open from 16 June to 26 October, Tuesdays to Fridays and Sundays, from 2 to 5 p.m. As these opening hours are seasonal, check them before your trip. The museum and parish church focus on different subjects: the museum explores the history of mountaineering and tourism in the Montafon, while the church highlights architecture and painting.

Trails through Gaschurn and its landscape

The Gagla Trail leads through Gaschurn to historic buildings and scenic spots. Another option is the Gaschurn–Klusertobel circular route, which is suitable for pushchairs. It starts and ends in the centre of Gaschurn and passes through Klusertobel and Unter Trantrauas. If you want to include historic buildings and scenic countryside in your walk, you can follow the Gagla Trail; for a pushchair-friendly circular route starting and ending in the centre, the route described above is a good option. These two descriptions offer different ways to explore the village.

The Gaschurn Partenen GaltĂĽr Culture and Landscape Trail explores nature, landscape, culture, flora and fauna. Alongside the local trails, it offers a thematic way to discover different aspects of the natural and cultural landscape. Which of these aspects you want to explore can shape the focus of your day, without combining the trails into a single route.

Via ferratas and alpine scenery

The high-alpine world of the Silvretta is almost on Gaschurn’s doorstep; glaciers and distinctive peaks shape the landscape. The Rifa via ferrata is in the climbing area of the same name, by the Rifabecken between Gaschurn and Partenen. It is a well-secured beginner via ferrata rated A/B and is also suitable for children taking their first steps on the rock. If you include this activity in your plans, it offers a clearly described introduction to via ferrata climbing.

The Burg via ferrata can be climbed in either direction. You can also practise via ferrata techniques there all year round; conditions in the mountains can vary by season. Check conditions before setting out. Rifa and Burg offer different points of interest: Rifa has a specified difficulty rating and is suitable for first experiences on the rock, while Burg offers a choice of directions and an opportunity to practise techniques.

Water activities and practical information

Mountain Beach in Gaschurn features two swimming lakes with a combined water surface of around 6,300 m², water slides, a children’s paddling pool, a rafting course and a beach volleyball court. This adds water-based and leisure activities to the options alongside culture, trails and via ferratas.

The Gaschurn Center bus stop on route 650 is the starting and ending point of the Gaschurn Village Trail. If you want to combine the trail with a bus journey, check the timetable in advance.
