Faschina offers a range of options to consider when planning a trip: trails connected with nature and wildlife, the plant diversity of Hahnenkopf, a historic chapel and seasonal ski activities. First, consider whether you want your days to focus more on hiking, a cultural destination or your first attempts on snow. There are specific points of reference for individual excursions—from a named route to a stop for a circular walk.

Hiking Trails and Nature Themes

The flower nature trail in Faschina starts at the middle station of the Stafelalpe chairlift. The Faschina Marmot Trail has a different focus: seven stations lead you through a day in the life of the animals. This interactive family trail playfully combines marmots and marbles; exercise, experiencing nature and learning are all part of its concept. The two trails offer different points of reference for planning: for the flower nature trail, the starting point at the middle station is important; for the Marmot Trail, it is the stations and their connection to the animals.

Hahnenkopf in Faschina is home to an exceptional variety of plants, which has developed due to the geological features of the area. The area around Hahnenkopf, on the northern edge of the GroĂźes Walsertal Biosphere Reserve, is home to more than 150 plant species. There are also swings at the middle station of the Stafelalpe Panoramic Railway, designed as art installations set within the natural mountain landscape.

Routes and Seasonal Information

The route around Sonnenköpfle starts at Faschinajoch, passes via Stafelalpe and Fatnella Alpe towards Fontanella and Säge, and ends back at Faschinajoch. Its named waypoints make it possible to distinguish its route from an excursion to a single destination. The bus stop “Faschina Passhöhe/Seilbahnen” on the L570 regional bus line provides access to the Kleine Faschinarunde. Check the current timetable before travelling.

In summer, the two-seater Stafelalpe chairlift takes you to elevations of 1,780 m and 1,865 m. If you would like to include the lift in your plans, check the seasonal operating information in advance. This helps you distinguish between the elevations listed and the lift’s possible operation when planning.

St. Anna Chapel: History and Winter Trail

St. Anna Chapel in Faschina was built around 1700 as an endowment by Josef Hartmann, who was born in Fontanella. A short snow trail, prepared for winter conditions, leads from the car park at Faschinapass to the chapel. The history of the building and the winter trail described here therefore offer different reasons for a visit: the story of the building and the seasonal approach on foot.

Skiing in Winter

In Damüls, Mellau and Faschina, specially designated practice areas with easy lifts and gently sloping hills are available for first attempts on skis or a snowboard. Faschina also has a designated ski route, Hahnenkopf South, marked as the Faschina–Fontanella connection. Practice areas for beginners and a named ski route are different planning options. Bear in mind that snow and lift operations are seasonal, and check the latest information before making firm plans for a winter excursion.

When choosing your travel dates, it helps to keep these options distinct: hiking trails and plant diversity sit alongside a visit to the chapel, the summer chairlift and seasonal winter activities. This allows you to plan your days around your travel group’s interests without combining individual trails, destinations and activities into a single tour.
