An Innviertel four-sided farmhouse, Gothic and Baroque churches, and hiking and cycling trails offer a variety of ways to explore Andorf. When planning your visit, consider whether you want to focus on cultural history, physical activity, or a day at the swimming pool. You can also plan your journey by car, bus, or train.

Farming life and church architecture

The Brunnbauerhof is a typical Innviertel four-sided farmhouse. The ensemble comprises a timber-block house, two solidly built stable buildings, and a barn constructed using traditional carpentry methods. Its original furnishings date from between 1806 and 1910 and give an impression of rural living conditions and historic farming techniques. In 1994, the Brunnbauerhof became the first open-air museum in the Innviertel. As part of the Pramtal Museum Route, it also serves as a meeting place for local customs and the traditions of earlier rural life.

Andorf's parish church offers a different historical perspective: built around 1350 in the Gothic style, it replaced the church that stood there at the time. Another change followed between 1665 and 1670, when the Gothic high altar was replaced with a Baroque altar, probably from the workshop of Ried sculptor Thomas Schwanthaler. St. Sebastian's Church on the Ried, also known as Ried Church, is a unified early Baroque building and is considered the first Baroque church in the surrounding area.

Another monument in Andorf commemorates Franz Xaver Gerl. Born in Andorf, the Mozart singer and composer was a friend of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The monument was erected in 1977 to mark the 150th anniversary of Gerl's death. Together with the Brunnbauerhof and the churches, it offers several ways to explore the area's cultural history during your stay.

Circular walks, cycling routes and activities

The Auen-Runde Rainwanderung is an 8.6-kilometre circular route that starts and finishes at the VVA site in Andorf. A hiking trail from Andorf also passes the Moosleithen nature reserve, with information boards along the way about the area. This route is separate from the Auen-Runde. For a different perspective on the landscape, the Haula-Schulleredt-Runde offers a view from the highest point, stretching from the Sauwald to the Alpine arc; visibility depends on conditions.

The cycling routes described here can also be compared by their total distance. The signposted R1 Wastlwirtrunde starts and finishes in Andorf and is 15 kilometres long. The R3 Innviertler Panorama- und Museumstour also starts and finishes in Andorf, is signposted as R9, and covers 42 kilometres. The distances make it possible to compare the routes by length; they do not indicate journey times. Another route, the Teuflauer-Holz-Runde, starts and finishes in the village centre and returns to Andorf via the Pram.

For other kinds of physical activity, there's also the Motorikpark Andorf, a facility open year-round to families, school classes, clubs, and seniors. Andorf outdoor swimming pool is a seasonal option. For the 2026 season, opening hours depend on the weather and water temperature. In good weather, swimming starts daily at 9:30 a.m., with the pool closing between 7 and 8 p.m. Check the current opening hours before planning a day at the pool.

Plan your journey and dates

Andorf can be reached by car, bus, or train. The town is directly on the B 137 and the Wels–Passau railway line. When planning your journey, you can choose between road and rail connections; no specific travel times are provided here.

If you're visiting in early September, you could also attend the festival celebrating the Pramtaler Knödelweg. It takes place around this time every year and features a varied programme; individual events may change. Check the latest festival dates and programme before your trip so your plans fit the event.
