Pramet can be explored through two distinct themes: literature and architectural heritage on the one hand, and water activities at the swimming lake on the other. When planning your trip, this distinction can help you tailor your stay to your interests and the time of year. The town’s special features include dialect poets Franz Stelzhamer, Hans Schatzdorfer and Ferdinand Binder, as well as the swimming lake by the Hausruck Forest.

Literature and protected heritage sites

The cultural trail in Pramet is dedicated to the three dialect poets Franz Stelzhamer, Hans Schatzdorfer and Ferdinand Binder and includes numerous poetry panels. It places all three names at its heart. Individual sites add their own distinctive touches: the Stelzhamerhaus is a memorial site in Franz Stelzhamer’s former parental home in Großpiesenham, in the municipality of Pramet. It is also known as the Stelzhamer Museum. The so-called “Muadastüberl” preserves an interior dating from the early 19th century.

As of 23 June 2026, the Federal Monuments Office’s heritage register lists the Stelzhamerhaus and the Catholic parish church of “Mariae Heimsuchung” as protected by ordinance. The “Schatzdorferhaus” farmhouse in Großpiesenham is protected under Section 3. Another biographical link to Hans Schatzdorfer is the lovingly restored “Tischlerhäusl,” where he lived. Schatzdorfer lived from 1897 to 1969.

The Stelzhamermuseum Pramet cultural centre presents an exhibition on the life and work of Franz Stelzhamer (1802–1874). It also hosts changing, project-based exhibitions of contemporary visual and applied arts, as well as literature, music and multimedia performances. The focus here is therefore both on Stelzhamer’s biography and on a range of artistic forms of expression. Together with the cultural trail and the Stelzhamerhaus, it offers a multifaceted way to explore Pramet’s literary heritage.

Parish church and pilgrimage

The Catholic parish church of “Mariae Heimsuchung” in Pramet is a Marian pilgrimage site. Its main altar, “The Visitation of Mary,” dates from around 1690. The depiction shows the Virgin Mary with the Christ Child; Saint Joseph stands to her left and Saint Joachim to her right. The altar’s name, dedication and figures give it a clearly defined theme, distinct from the literary highlights. Those interested in religious art will find another aspect of local history here, alongside the memorial sites to the poets.

Pramet swimming lake in different seasons

Pramet swimming lake is a dammed, natural lake right by the Hausruck Forest. Visitors can swim and enjoy water sports there. The lake adds a different focus to trip planning than the poets and cultural sites: here, the activities centre on and in the water. Access to the water and swimming conditions depend on the season and operating arrangements; check the current conditions before your visit.

In winter, Pramet swimming lake also offers good conditions for ice skating and a game of ice stock sport on its natural ice, provided the ice is safe. Swimming and water sports depend on seasonal and operating conditions, while winter activities depend on the safety of the natural ice. This comparison can help you choose when to travel: the cultural trail, memorial sites and church form the cultural and historical focus, while the options at the lake vary more with the seasons.

Discover Pramet according to your interests

If you are mainly interested in literature and local history, the cultural trail, Stelzhamerhaus, cultural centre and parish church offer different themes for your stay. If water activities are more important to you, the swimming lake provides a seasonal alternative.
