The Koaserin wet meadows, information boards along the Ledererbach stream and Peuerbach’s cultural history offer different starting points for planning a trip to Sölden An Der Straß. When looking for a holiday apartment, it helps to first choose what you would like to focus on: nature watching, a family-friendly hike, a walk with themed stops or a historical look at Peuerbach each offers a different experience.
Koaserin and the Leithenbach Valley
Below the Leithenbach Valley lies the “Koaserin” nature reserve, with marshes and wet meadows. The Upper Austrian Nature Conservation Association offers guided nature tours there, introducing visitors to the remarkable diversity of local flora and fauna; sign up at the town hall. The Koaserin thus focuses on both a specific wetland habitat and the diversity of its flora and fauna. The Leithenbach Valley, also known as the “Valley of Seven Mills,” is associated with scenic, family-friendly hikes. This distinction can help you choose: the Koaserin is about natural history and guided tours, while the Leithenbach Valley is about hiking. If you are looking for a hike with your family, the valley’s trails are a specific option; if you would like to focus on learning about nature, the guided tours in the Koaserin offer a themed alternative.
A walk with themed stops
The Astro Trail invites you to take a walk through the universe. Along the Ledererbach stream, information boards explain the planets in our solar system as well as the zodiac signs and their astrological significance. The trail thus brings together two distinct topics: the planets of the solar system and astrological interpretations of the zodiac signs. Unlike the nature tours and hikes, the focus here is on the information boards along the way. If you enjoy taking in information as you walk, the Astro Trail offers a clear focus on planets and zodiac signs.
Cultural history in Peuerbach
At Peuerbach Castle Museum, an exhibition in the birthplace of Georg von Peuerbach provides a comprehensive tribute to his life and achievements. It also shows the profound influence he had on later generations. The “Eventful Search for Clues” route takes a different historical approach: it leads from Peuerbach Castle to the original site of the first battle of the 1626 Peasants’ Revolt, on the Ledererwiese meadow. The exhibition and the route differ in their subject matter: one focuses on a person’s life and work, the other on a historical event and its original site. If you are interested in culture in Peuerbach, you can choose between a biographical perspective and a route to a specific historical location.
A historical trail through Sölden
A historical route also passes through Sölden: on 21 May, Herberstorff travelled along the former Imperial Road via Waizenkirchen, Sölden and Heuberg towards Peuerbach. The direction described gives this historical reference its own geographical course.
Routes and orientation
The Römerweg branches off between Niederensfelden and the centre of Peuerbach, passing through Sölden An Der Straß before returning to the centre. One restriction is important when choosing a route: the Römerweg is not suitable for wheelchair users. If wheelchair accessibility is important to you, bear this in mind when making your choice. As an additional direction, Söldener Gemeindestraße in Peuerbach runs towards Waizenkirchen.
