Feld Am See is located on Lake Brennsee; water sports, cycling and hiking meet churches, a natural toboggan run and other attractions in the village. To plan your trip, you can choose according to your preferred focus: activities on the lake, a practice course in the village center, trails at various elevations or local history. Lake Brennsee is considered pleasantly warm, crystal clear and of drinking-water quality.
Windsurfing and sailing on Lake Brennsee
The windsurfing area on Lake Brennsee is considered reliable for wind and easy to navigate. Suitable equipment and trained or certified windsurfing instructors are available for every skill level. Sailing is also an option here: beginners and experienced recreational sailors alike can sail, with lessons offered by a trained team of sailing instructors.
The two activities differ in their stated focus: windsurfing includes equipment and instruction for all skill levels, while sailing caters to everyone from first-timers to experienced recreational sailors. This lets you shape your time on the water around whether you would like to focus on windsurfing or sailing.
Cycling in the village and the NOCKBIKE region
The nock/bike practice course is located right in the center of Feld Am See. Four routes of varying difficulty make it appealing even for first rides. The Nock-Lake trails offer a different kind of route: they lead to Lake Brennsee in Feld Am See.
The regional context is also part of the cycling offer: together with Bad Kleinkirchheim and Lake Millstatt, Feld Am See is part of the NOCKBIKE region. In the village itself, Weingartlrast is located right on the R2B cycle path. It serves as a resting place for cyclists, hikers, runners and Nordic walkers.
Hiking trails and a specific tour duration
Feld Am See has twelve running and Nordic walking routes at various elevations. The starting point for the 2-Seen-Runde is at the church square by the village fountain. This places the start of the loop firmly in the village.
The Feldpannalmrunde is Route 2 of the nock/art hiking trails; it takes about 3 hours and 40 minutes to walk. Check the time before setting out, taking the conditions into account. Another destination for hikers and mountain bikers is the RieserhĂĽtte, which offers views of the surrounding heights and a hearty snack.
Churches and other local attractions
The Protestant church in Feld Am See was built in 1787. The Catholic Church of St. Joseph followed in 1960 and is dedicated to Saint Joseph, the patron saint of workers. The two construction dates mark different periods in the village’s history; the dedication of St. Joseph also provides a specific indication of the importance of the church’s patron saint.
The Alpine Wildlife Park has extensive walking paths suitable for strollers. The Mirnock 73 natural toboggan run is right in the village. Together with Weingartlrast and the RieserhĂĽtte, these destinations add to the choice between activity, a rest stop and a visit to the churches. This lets you organize Feld Am See around the themes that matter for your stay, rather than treating water, cycling and hiking as one and the same activity.
