Kroatisch Minihof combines an early documentary mention with later resettlement and buildings dating back several centuries. The village was first documented in 1195 under the name Vkas. After it was abandoned in the wake of the Turkish invasion, Kroatisch Minihof was resettled by Croats during the 16th century. This provides two distinct points of reference for a culturally focused stay: the early written record and the later changes in settlement. The buildings and memorials continue this story with dates of their own.

Chapels, a Column, and Monastic Estate

The Trinity Column bears the date 1787; it was renovated in 1865 and 1915. This places a date on the structure alongside two later interventions. These dates provide different points of reference for the history of the village and the structure.

The cemetery chapel of the Resurrection in Kroatisch Minihof is listed as a protected monument in the Burgenland monument register of the Federal Monuments Authority, dated 28 May 2024. The Chapel of the Resurrection is a monument with a stepped gable and a tower dating from 1874. A stepped gable is a gable with a stepped outline; in addition to the date, this brings a specific architectural feature into view. The family chapel was built at the western exit of the village in 1879. The dates 1874 and 1879 are only five years apart, offering a brief comparison of the two chapels in time.

A grange was also built in Kroatisch Minihof. A grange is the farmstead of a monastery. The term broadens the perspective beyond sacred buildings and helps explain monastic estate management as part of the village's history.

Bilingual Library and Events

The team at the bilingual library run by the Young Initiative Kroatisch Minihof regularly organizes children's afternoons and flea markets for the Kirtag fair and during Advent. These occasions provide a general sense of timing, but not a fixed day to visit: specific dates can change. If you plan to travel for a children's afternoon or flea market, check the current program in advance.

The library is located in the municipal building at HauptstraĂźe 36. Opening hours are listed as Fridays and Saturdays, 5 to 8 p.m.; it is closed on public holidays. Before visiting, check whether these hours apply on the date you have in mind. The event program and library hours are separate points of reference for planning: time your event visit around the Kirtag or Advent, and your library visit according to the stated opening hours.

Regional Delights

The regional food market is called “Regionaler GENUSSMARKT / regionalni sajam”. A notice from January 2026 mentions organic pumpkin seed oil from Biohof Stranz/Kr. Minihof in connection with the market. Confirm the current market date before your trip; the product range may change. This lets you factor in the regional food offering when planning without assuming a specific date.
