Golf, thermal waters and themed trails give Stegersbach clearly distinct highlights. There is also a Renaissance castle and a striking chapel. When planning, first consider whether golf, water activities, outdoor exercise or culture is most important to your stay.

Golf and thermal baths: two distinct highlights

The Golfschaukel Stegersbach-Lafnitztal covers 190 hectares and has 45 holes. Those looking for lessons or an introduction to golf can find professional coaching and modern technical training at the Simon Tarr Golf Academy. Its offerings include individually tailored courses for golf proficiency certification, introductory courses and intensive courses; they can also be booked without club membership. Check the Academy's current offerings before booking.

The Stegersbach Thermal Spa offers something different: it has 14 pools and four slides. The water park includes a 100-metre stainless-steel slide with a timer. The water comes from two warm healing springs that bubble up from depths of up to 3,200 metres. If you are planning your stay around specific features, this makes it easy to distinguish between the golf course and the thermal spa without treating the two activities as the same.

Themed trails with different themes

The trails also offer different experiences. The Chakrenweg is a meditative hike of around 4.5 kilometres, based on seven scientifically measured energy points. The Golf/Geschichte/Weg is less than 8 kilometres long and has more than 20 stops with information about history and interesting facts about golf. The short circular Walk of Wine trail runs around the Stegersbach Thermal Spa. Information boards and grapevines introduce visitors to the South Burgenland wine region and its winemakers.

These trails therefore suit different interests: the Chakrenweg focuses on meditation and energy points, the Golf/Geschichte/Weg combines golf and history, and the Walk of Wine highlights the wine region and its winemakers. Their stated lengths also vary in precision: the Chakrenweg is around 4.5 kilometres, the Golf/Geschichte/Weg is under 8 kilometres, and the Walk of Wine is described as a short circular trail.

Chapel and castle: Stegersbach's history

Stegersbach was first mentioned in writing and in official records in 1289 under the name “Stegraifepach.” A notable building from the town's more recent history is the Kreuzkapelle: it is 16 metres high and shaped like a triangular tent. It was consecrated on 7 July 1979; following its renovation, it was reconsecrated on 17 May 2015. Built in 2014, the Lichtweg runs between the two churches in Stegersbach.

Stegersbach Castle is a Renaissance château commissioned by Adam Count Batthyány in 1636. It also serves as a guesthouse and event venue for weddings and celebrations. The castle has an à la carte restaurant, a vaulted cellar and a 600 m² banquet area. If you are planning a visit or stay there, check the current operating details in advance.

More ways to stay active and getting there

Stegersbach also has a pump track with a wavy course. It can be used with bicycles, scooters or skateboards. This provides another way to stay active alongside the hiking trails and golf; the options mentioned differ in both their facilities and their focus.
