In the immediate vicinity of Rosario Department, Pasaje Juramento crosses a tiered pool featuring works by sculptor Lola Mora. It connects the Monumento Nacional a la Bandera with Plaza 25 de Mayo and the historic center. Here, sculpture and important landmarks in Rosario’s history come together in one place.

History, Art and Architecture

The Monumento Nacional a la Bandera stands at the site where Manuel Belgrano first raised the national flag on February 27, 1812. The monument was inaugurated on June 20, 1957. The Museo de la Memoria de Rosario also has a historic designation: it is listed as a “lugar histórico nacional” (national historic site).

The former Davis silos were originally used to store grain; today, they house the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Rosario (MACRO). The silos are part of the early 20th-century port architecture and are located by the river. Today, they house Argentina’s most important collection of contemporary art. At the Museo de Arte Decorativo Firma y Odilo Estévez, you can see European paintings from the 17th to the 19th centuries, as well as Hispano-American silver, ivory, tapestries, rugs, glass, porcelain and sculptures. The museum also preserves numerous treasures from Rosario’s oldest mansions in the immediate vicinity of the destination.

The Museo de Bellas Artes Juan B. Castagnino offers another perspective on art history: its collection of Argentine art represents the country’s art history across all disciplines, with a particular focus on works by artists from Rosario. European works include four print series by Francisco de Goya: Los caprichos, Los disparates, Los desastres de la guerra and Tauromaquia.

Beaches and Paraná Experiences

In the immediate vicinity of the destination, La Florida in Rosario is a sandy beach with 400 meters of frontage on the Río Paraná. The Rosario-Victoria Bridge and the green island delta form a backdrop. The nearby Rambla Catalunya also has a free public beach, with a kitesurfing area and a 400-meter swimming corridor marked by two lines of safety buoys.

At the southern entrance to Balneario La Florida, you can find excursions and beginner lessons on the Paraná, using kayaks and stand-up paddleboards. Check whether these activities are currently available before you travel. Motorboat excursions of varying lengths are also offered on the Paraná. They last about an hour and a half on average and can be combined with a visit to an island parador. These excursions may require advance booking and a minimum number of passengers.

In the immediate vicinity of the destination is the Acuario del río Paraná, dedicated to the biodiversity of the Paraná Delta. The complex includes a native plant park, a research center, ten large aquariums, interactive educational games and a bar with a terrace. The one-hour guided tours there take visitors through the Laboratorio Mixto de Biotecnología Acuática, the Sala de Acuarios and the Jardín Botánico Autóctono. Time at the beach, a visit to the aquarium and activities on the water offer different ways to enjoy a stay on the Paraná.

Parks, Leisure and Events

The 35-hectare Parque Regional Sur, located by the river, is characterized by its varied vegetation. The park invites visitors to stroll along Arroyo Saladillo and photograph the waterfall at Quebradas del Saladillo. In the southernmost area, there is training equipment for cycling and track and field; check its condition on site. During the day, visitors can take pedal boats on the Laguito in Parque de la Independencia. Check current rental information before your visit.

For hands-on activities, two other places are worth a visit: At Isla de los Inventos, in the former Rosario Central railway station, the focus is on playing, experimenting and learning in rooms and workshops. At La Granja de la Infancia, visitors can observe animals from the region, bake bread and sow, water, prune and harvest in the garden. The Feria de las Colectividades is held annually at Parque a la Bandera, in the immediate vicinity of the destination. In the immediate vicinity of the destination, a ceremony and a large parade take place on June 20 for Día de la Bandera.
