Eldorado can be explored through its cultural history and natural attractions. When planning your trip, you can decide whether museums, an event, or experiences in the forest will shape your stay. The attractions have different focuses: they range from the town’s founding history and a collection of motorcycles and bicycles to nature conservation and birdwatching.

Museums covering the town’s founding and vehicles

In the town center, the Museo Cooperativo Eldorado presents the city’s sociocultural development through the story of the immigrants who founded the town in 1919. The museum therefore focuses on the town’s founding history. Note that it is temporarily closed, and check in advance whether a visit is possible.

The Museo de Motos Omar Ocampos Eldorado Misiones offers a different perspective: it is the province’s first motorcycle and bicycle museum. It displays more than 150 motorcycles, 100 bicycles, and several classic cars. The collection gives the museum a clear focus on two-wheeled vehicles, with the classic cars adding another type of vehicle.

The Museo Casa del Fundador Julio Adolfo Schwelm connects the town’s founder with a specific historic building. It was the original home of Adolfo Julio Schwelm, the founder of Eldorado, and preserves the style of the immigrants’ first houses. Together with the history of the immigrants at the Museo Cooperativo, the house offers access to the town’s founding history from two perspectives: through the development of the town and through the architecture of an early home.

Expo Eldorado: exhibits, food, and entertainment

Expo Eldorado is an annual open-air exhibition in the heart of the city, on the banks of the Río Paraná. It brings together hundreds of shops, entrepreneurs, and companies from across the country. The program includes a trade exhibition, food, art, and entertainment. This gives the Expo a different focus from the museums: commerce and a varied program of events take center stage. If you would like to plan your trip around the Expo, check the dates and program in advance, as both may change.

Nature reserve and birdwatching

The Reserva Salto Küppers covers 64 hectares and protects native flora and fauna. Ecological trails and boardwalks lead through the forest for walks. This adds a nature-focused option to your stay that is not centered on a collection or event program. The trails and boardwalks are a good reason to include the Reserva as a destination in its own right.

Avistaje de Aves centers on the diversity of birds in the Misiones rainforest, offering a birdwatching experience. Along with the Reserva Salto Küppers, it provides another perspective on nature: while the Reserva protects native flora and fauna and offers walking trails, Avistaje de Aves focuses specifically on birds. The two attractions can therefore be distinguished by their respective nature themes.

Planning your stay in Eldorado

When looking for a hotel in Eldorado, it helps to decide first what your trip will focus on: local history, the Expo, or nature. If the Expo is part of your reason for traveling, plan around its dates. If you would like to visit the Museo Cooperativo, check in advance whether visits are possible, as it is temporarily closed. For forest walks or birdwatching, the Reserva Salto Küppers and Avistaje de Aves are good places to start.
