Vista Flores brings together local history, winegrowing and nature experiences. The Plaza distrital de Vista Flores “Manuel Belgrano” and the Molino de Vista Flores represent different sides of the town’s history; Bodega Rolland and La Ecochacra offer further points of interest. The types of visits available can also help you choose where to stay: the winery requires reservations, while La Ecochacra offers guided tours.

Plaza and Windmill: History in the Townscape

The Plaza distrital de Vista Flores “Manuel Belgrano” is a historic square in the Vista Flores district and is regularly used for cultural events. Alongside its historical significance, it also plays a role in the town’s recurring cultural life. Individual event dates may change; if you would like to attend an event, check the dates for your stay.

The Molino de Vista Flores is a windmill that once pumped drinking water for the town of Vista Flores. Today, it serves as a vivid reminder of the recent past. Its transformation from a former public utility to a present-day memorial makes it another way to explore the town’s history.

Winery and Agroecological Garden

Bodega Rolland is a winery with a technical, minimalist character. The property covers 130 hectares in Vista Flores, Tunuyán, at an altitude of between 1,000 and 1,200 metres above sea level. The winery welcomes visitors daily from 09:00 to 17:00 by prior reservation. Check reservation requirements and opening hours before you travel.

La Ecochacra offers guided tours of its agroecological garden. The visit also includes a tour of a nature reserve that protects native woodland and a wetland with high biodiversity. The food served is also tied to the garden: La Ecochacra serves smoothies and snacks made with produce from its own garden. The offering brings together a guided garden visit, the nature reserve and products from the garden.

More Perspectives in the Department of Tunuyán

In the wider destination of the Department of Tunuyán, Parque Temático Sanmartiniano focuses on history: a biographical route about San Martín recounts General José de San Martín’s return to Argentina in 1823. The park also hosts the educational program “Viaje por la historia y naturaleza de los Chacayes,” which has been run in the department since 2019 and welcomes hundreds of children, teachers, mothers and fathers each year. The visitor facilities are free to access and are located at Manzano Histórico on Provincial Route 94.

The regional cultural offering includes the Museo Municipal Retorno a la Patria, with four themed halls and both guided and self-guided visits. On 13 November 2019, Monumento Retorno a la Patria was declared a National Historic Monument by Decree 769/2019. The La Tonada National Festival is also part of the Department of Tunuyán: it takes place every February in Lombardia Park on the Río Tunuyán, celebrates folk music and brings together thousands of people. Check the specific event date before travelling.

Other clearly distinct activities in the wider destination of the Department of Tunuyán include crossing the Andes via Paso Portillo Piuquenes on horseback or on foot, alpine climbing in Cajón de Arenales and trekking at Cerro Punta Negra. The regional selection therefore ranges from a crossing to climbing and trekking.
