There are different ways to explore the Rancul destination. In CaleufĂș, parkland and railway history come together; nearby, the focus is on food and history in Rancul and the CaldĂ©n landscape in La Maruja.

CaleufĂș: Park and Stargazing

Paseo del Lago in CaleufĂș is a recreational and tourism park. Its features include an artificial lagoon, an island with a lookout tower, a waterfall, paths, and green spaces. Barbecues, small covered seating areas, and tables add to the facilities. The park brings together water, views, and places to relax. Paseo del Lago opened on November 15, 2015. In 2025, the municipal council declared it a place of public and tourist interest.

The site is also associated with a dated event: in 2016, a nighttime stargazing session with a telescope was held at Paseo del Lago. This adds an astronomical activity from the park’s history to its profile.

Railway History and Culture in CaleufĂș

Railway heritage can be seen in several places. At Paseo del Lago, corrugated-metal sheds and a pier are remnants of the railway and recall the area’s history. The MarĂa Auxiliadora Chapel stands beside Plazoleta de la EstaciĂłn on former railway land. In addition, the former CaleufĂș railway station is now designated as the Museo Municipal Luis Fiandrino. Together, these offer several points of connection: railway remnants in the park, the chapel’s location, and the former station with its current museum name.

The Museo del Deporte Motor opened in 2022 as part of the celebrations for CaleufĂș’s 111th anniversary. If you are planning a museum visit, it is advisable to check the current opening hours in advance.

Food and Landscapes Nearby

Nearby, the El Tentador restaurant-museum in Rancul brings together food and history. It has been part of the town’s identity since 1980. As a Resto Bar Museo, it is also part of a network of establishments spread across different locations in La Pampa Province. Beer RCC is also made at Estancia Las Margaritas in Rancul. The examples offer distinct highlights: El Tentador combines culinary and historical connections, while RCC focuses on beer production.

La Maruja lies in the heart of the Pampas CaldĂ©n forest region. In a 2023 interview, an interviewee described the large CaldĂ©n trees on the railway station grounds as striking to people visiting the town for the first time. The landscapes are therefore quite different: in CaleufĂș, the lagoon and green spaces define the park, while La Maruja is situated in the CaldĂ©n forest region.
