For planning your trip, you can focus on several different themes: the dairy region of the Department of Nogoyá, rural heritage, and choral culture in the municipality of Nogoyá. If you’re looking for a vacation rental, you can first decide whether you’d like to focus on the city’s history, cultural events, or nature and rural themes.
Dairy Region and Cuisine of Entre Ríos
The dairy region of the Department of Nogoyá is considered the most important in the province of Entre Ríos. An estimated 150 cheese dairies are associated with it. This gives the region’s cuisine a clear local connection: cheese is also part of the cuisine of Entre Ríos as a whole. At the provincial level, this cuisine also includes Asado criollo and Asado con cuero, Escabeches, desserts, Tortas fritas, Alfajores and fresh fish. The distinction is useful for planning: the cheese dairies are associated with the Department’s dairy region, while the dishes mentioned are associated with the province.
Choral Culture and City History
By Provincial Law No. 9135 of April 24, 1998, Nogoyá was declared the “Capital Provincial del Canto Coral” in recognition of its choral activities. A specific historical event date was October 19, 2024: the 43rd Encuentro Coral was organized for that day. This date applies to that edition and is not a current event date.
The city is home to Paseo de las Artes, a cultural space made up of small squares along Bulevar España, stretching east from Calle Belgrano. The city’s heritage can also be found at specific addresses. The Sociedad Italiana de Socorros Mutuos “Víctor Manuel II,” at 1060 Caseros Street, was declared part of the cultural heritage of the city of Nogoyá. The same building houses the Sala de Teatro “Manuel Belgrano,” which is considered part of the city’s architectural heritage.
Cultural Routes and Opening Hours
Two different tours are listed for historical and religious visits. A three-hour tour includes the Basílica Nuestra Señora del Carmen and the Museo Municipal. A two-and-a-half-hour route connects the Convento de las Hermanas Carmelitas with the Basílica, the Capilla Nuestra Señora del Tránsito and the old cemetery area. When comparing how much time to allow, consider both the stated duration and which stops interest you.
The Museo de la Ciudad is located at 687 25 de Mayo. Its listed opening hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00–11:00 a.m. and 2:00–6:00 p.m. Check the hours before your visit.
Rural Heritage, Events and Nature
In the Sauce District of the Department of Nogoyá is the rural general store and bar El Espinillo. Founded by Luis Sanito Blanco in 1985, it preserves rural traditions and is considered a symbol of rural identity and resilience. The Fiesta Nacional del Lino is associated with the Department of Nogoyá and the surrounding region. In Lucas González, the Fiesta Provincial y Nacional del Lino includes artistic performances, folk shows and a craft fair. The program may vary from one edition to another, so check the dates and program for your travel days.
The Reserva Natural de Uso Múltiple El Chañar is also located in the Department of Nogoyá. Its objectives include environmental education and interpretation. A municipal plan from 2020 listed the Vuelta a las Moras as one of three rural cycling loops; the planned route ran through Febré, Betbeder and Nogoyá. If you’d like to include this route in your plans, check whether it is currently usable before setting out.
Getting There and Vacation Rentals
The Terminal de Ómnibus “La Delfina” bus station in Nogoyá serves long-distance, medium-distance and local passenger transport, with Nogoyá as either the starting point or destination. For a specific connection, check the schedule for your travel day. When looking for a vacation rental, it helps to first decide which city visits, events or rural attractions you want to include, then compare the locations of specific listings with your plans.
