Carnival Culture and City Life in Gualeguaychú

The Museo del Carnaval offers an interactive introduction to the city’s carnival culture. Screens and a 360-degree room complement the exploration of carnival history and its creative origins. For 2026, bookable tours and educational programs are planned for educational institutions, organizations and interested groups.

There are also a variety of options outdoors: Parque Unzué lies on the Río Gualeguaychú and offers space for walking, relaxation and recreation year-round. Parque Florístico has a different focus. This ecologically valuable wetland includes gallery forest, reed beds and Espinal woodland; a 600-meter interpretive trail showcases its flora and fauna.

Nature Trails Nearby

The Reserva Natural Las Piedras lies north of Gualeguaychú, 15 kilometers away on Ruta Provincial 20. The protected area encompasses 142 hectares of native forest in Entre Ríos. Its features include easy-to-walk trails, viewpoints, historic structures and interpretive signs. The reserve is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Along the interpretive trails, you can observe rheas, vizcachas, bats and numerous bird species, among other wildlife. The trails also showcase native flora and ongoing ecological restoration processes.

Another option for hiking is the Reserva Senderos del Monte, near Gualeguaychú. It covers 125 hectares of protected natural areas, with trails winding through forests and wetlands. The surrounding area therefore features a variety of landscapes: the river and recreation areas at Parque Unzué, the wetlands of Parque Florístico, and the forests and protected areas of the reserves.

Wine and Regional Discoveries

The Camino del Vino de Gualeguaychú includes four wineries that offer tours and tastings and sell local wines. One specifically named winery is Bodega Las Magnolias, at the southern entrance to Gualeguaychú. A tour there introduces regionally typical grape varieties and winemaking, followed by a wine tasting.

In Urdinarrain, a traditional artisanal bakery has been baking in a wood-fired oven for more than 50 years and offers scheduled tours. At the regional level, the Pueblos y Aldeas del Sur Entrerriano tourist and cultural microregion brings together, among other things, the Circuito de las Aldeas, the Ruta de las Pulperías, a railway loop, as well as cycling, motorcycling and ecotourism. This means the range of activities extends beyond individual towns, without requiring all the offerings to be combined into a fixed route.

History and Events in Urdinarrain

In the center of Urdinarrain, the seven-hectare Complejo La Estación extends around the restored old railway station. It includes the Museo Regional Histórico, the Museo Rural de Carruajes and the open-air Museo Regional Agrícola. The complex also has a conference hall, an artisan area, an inclusive playground, a fitness trail, a beach volleyball court, a traffic-themed area and Parque San Martín, with children’s play equipment.

The Circuito Histórico Autoguiado is open year-round and free of charge. It leads to 14 iconic places, including architecturally significant buildings and squares connected with the city’s identity. You can explore it on foot, by bicycle or by car. Urdinarrain hosts festive events throughout the year, including the Fiesta Provincial del Caballo and the Fiesta Regional de la Cerveza.

Thermal Attractions and Getting There

Near the destination, Complejo Termal Termas del Guaychú has nine pools: two large indoor pools, two outdoor pools with saline thermal water, and five freshwater pools at ambient temperature. The water slides and water park operate during the peak summer season. You can travel to Gualeguaychú by bus or private vehicle; the city is accessible via National Routes 14, 12 and 9.
