San Antonio de Arredondo can be explored through two specific themes: resin art and the climb to the Cruz de San Antonio de Arredondo. The Museo de Resina displays and sells sculptures and coats of arms made from resin. The town is also promoted as the “Km 0” of the Rutas del Cóndor—a tourism positioning that connects San Antonio de Arredondo with this route marker.
Arts and Crafts and Local Culture
The Residencia Franciscana has an Iglesia Mayor and a Capilla Doméstica. The Paseo de Artesanos y Productores de Arredondo showcases regional talent and products. The Centro Comercial a Cielo Abierto is home to the Patio Gastronómico, which serves as a gathering place for local cuisine. If you are planning a specific visit, it is best to check the current program, as its design and schedule may change.
The Mercadito Serrano de Arte y Diseño also serves as a tourist information center. Check whether this information service is available in advance if you plan to rely on it for directions. This gives arts and crafts, local products, and tourist information their own distinct place in the town’s profile.
Hiking to the Cruz de San Antonio de Arredondo
The hiking trail begins opposite the Residencia Franciscana; the starting point is just a few meters from the town center. The climb is listed as approximately 1.7 kilometers each way, with an elevation gain of 300 meters. The stated distance may vary slightly depending on the route used as a reference. The Cruz de San Antonio de Arredondo is also known as Cerro La Cruz.
The old Stations of the Cross, with fourteen stations, runs along the trail. It ends at an iron cross more than 15 meters high, erected in 1934. From the summit, there are panoramic views of Lago San Roque. The trail also passes through native woodland with indigenous species and the fauna typical of the Sierras of CĂłrdoba. The distance and elevation gain provide a concrete sense of the climb, while the Stations of the Cross and summit views add historical and scenic dimensions.
Programs for Nature and Outdoor Activity
The Tierra de Senderos initiative, described in June 2026, promotes trekking as a wellness experience and a way to connect with the biodiversity of the Sierras. Ciudad de Montaña was described in June 2026 as a permanent program for active and sports tourism connected with nature; it includes an Escuela de Escalada. The initiatives have different focuses: Tierra de Senderos combines trekking with well-being and biodiversity, while Ciudad de Montaña also includes a climbing school.
Nature and Water Destinations in the Punilla Department
The Punilla Department has nature and water destinations with distinct features. At 1,979 meters, Cerro Uritorco is the highest point in northern Punilla. Quebrada del Condorito is V-shaped, 800 meters deep, and 1,500 meters wide at its broadest point; Andean condors can be seen from the upper edges. The national park is located partly in the Punilla Department.
Visitors can fish at five major reservoirs in Punilla; sailing and motorized water sports are also possible at the reservoirs. The Camino de los Artesanos connects Villa Giardino and La Cumbre over nine kilometers. Each of these regional destinations has its own focus—from scenery and wildlife viewing to water activities and a connection between two towns.
