Tanti brings together a variety of attractions: water spots, cultural sites, and the Fiesta Nacional del Cordero Serrano. There is also a gastronomic route to experience at the town’s restaurants and eateries. Visitors planning a stay can choose between landscapes, culture, events, and regional cuisine. The sites and offerings described also differ in their specific features.

Water Spots and Landscapes Around Tanti

Balneario La Isla is located where Arroyo Tanti and Arroyo Chico meet. Its features include a natural swimming spot and a shallow pool. Balneario El Diquecito is described by its stretch of water: it is more than 50 meters long, and its depth ranges from 30 centimeters to 6 meters. The two spots therefore offer different highlights—one is set at the confluence and has two types of water features, while the other is notable for its stated length and wide range of depths.

Balneario Sans Souci features a large swimming pool, large trees, barbecue grills, and a small shop. Balneario Villa García combines a stretch of water with centuries-old summer houses surrounding it; there are also walking paths. Visitors looking to distinguish water spots by their surroundings will find architectural and landscape features here, as well as paths as a feature in their own right.

Balneario Los Arboles is located near Tanti. It has a large swimming pool on Arroyo Serrano de Tanti, as well as barbecue grills nearby. Cueva de los Pajaritos is also in the surrounding area. Its rock formations were created by erosion; the rock walls provide a habitat for white-collared swifts, known as Chirrios. In addition to the water spots, the cave adds a landscape and nature perspective to the options.

Festival, Chapel, and Tashigar Sur

The Fiesta Nacional del Cordero Serrano takes place in Tanti every year in February. The festival features performances by various folk music groups and a handicraft fair with 36 stalls. Residents of the town display their handmade products there. Music and handicrafts are two specific highlights of the February event; visitors interested in the festival can take both into account when planning their trip.

Capilla San Cayetano is located in Barrio Tanti Sierras. It opened to the public in 1955 and houses an image of the Sacred Heart and the medal of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. The historic opening year and the two religious objects characterize the chapel in different ways: through its history and through what it houses.

Tashigar Sur is located in the hamlet of El Durazno, a rural area of the town of Tanti. The center is dedicated to the development of Dzogchen teachings in South America. In summer, activities at Tashigar Sur include Yantra Yoga and dances performed on a mandala, which visitors and residents can take part in. The cultural offerings thus include both a religious site in Barrio Tanti Sierras and a cultural center located in rural El Durazno.

Cuisine and Regional Highlights

The Ruta Gastronómica del Cordero Serrano can be experienced year-round at the town’s outstanding restaurants and eateries. In terms of the calendar, it differs from the festival, which takes place every year in February: the festival is tied to a February date, while the gastronomic route is available year-round. This distinguishes two different ways to experience Cordero Serrano without limiting them to the same time of year.

The Departamento Punilla offers its own regional perspective. There, at 1,979 meters, Cerro Uritorco is the highest point in northern Punilla. Quebrada del Condorito is V-shaped, 800 meters deep, and 1,500 meters wide at its broadest point; Andean condors can be spotted from its upper edges. The national park is located partly in Departamento Punilla. Visitors can fish at Punilla’s five major reservoirs; sailing and motorized water sports are also possible there. Another regional landmark is the Camino de los Artesanos, which connects Villa Giardino and La Cumbre along a nine-kilometer route.
