Cruz de Caña brings together the Río San Guillermo and its swimming spots, opportunities for outdoor activities and historic sights. When planning your trip, the main points of interest are the summer use of the river beaches, the various activities and the roads leading to the town. This lets you tailor your stay to the things that appeal to you most.

Río San Guillermo and Cerro Cruz de Caña

The Río San Guillermo is a visitor attraction in Cruz de Caña. Its extensive beaches can be enjoyed for recreation in summer. Hiking and trekking are possible along the river, so it is not just a place to spend time by the water but also a starting point for activities on foot. Cerro Cruz de Caña offers a different focus: it can be climbed to an altitude of up to 1,492 metres above sea level.

Swimming Spots and Outdoor Activities

Swimming spots in Cruz de Caña include Paso del Carmen and Pocito del Cielo. La Playita is another named swimming spot on the Río San Guillermo within the municipal area. Rainbow trout fishing is also possible in Cruz de Caña. If you do not want to focus your stay solely on the water and riverbanks, you can also include horseback rides to nearby hills in your plans. Hiking and trekking along the Río, climbing Cerro Cruz de Caña and horseback riding are different options that you can choose according to your preferred focus.

Chapel and Estancia Jesuítica La Candelaria

The Capilla San Nicolás de Bari in Cruz de Caña was built of stone between 1946 and 1956. Its construction period and materials provide a specific architectural point of interest for visitors. Nearby is the Estancia Jesuítica La Candelaria, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000. It is located in the hamlet of the same name in the municipality of Cruz de Caña, in the Cruz Del Eje Department.

The Fiesta de la Virgen de La Candelaria takes place every year on February 2 at the historic Estancia Jesuítica La Candelaria. It brings together tourists, residents and religious visitors. If you would like to plan your trip around this date, check the program for the specific occasion separately.

Getting There and Road Conditions

One route from Córdoba follows RN 38 to Villa de Soto, then RP 15 to La Higuera, and from there continues for about 15 kilometres to Cruz de Caña. This distance is approximate. Check road conditions before setting out.

Another route follows RP 28 via Tanti and Los Gigantes. This route can be difficult to drive after rain, so check road conditions in advance. These are two different travel options. When planning, you can first choose your route and take the relevant road conditions into account.
