Jesús María offers different ways to plan a trip: an annual festival in January, nature, and urban history. The Festival Nacional de Doma y Folklore draws visitors to the town every January. The Reserva Natural Parque del Oeste offers relaxing walks and birdwatching, while Torre Céspedes and Museo de la Ciudad Luis Biondi add their own architectural and cultural highlights.

Festival and Nature as Reasons to Visit

If the festival is the reason for your trip, January is the time to keep in mind. The 60th edition in 2026 brought together more than 450,000 people over ten days of events. These figures relate to that specific edition and give a historical sense of its scale.

Alongside its walking trails, Reserva Natural Parque del Oeste also offers birdwatching. Each offers a different focus from a festival visit: walking centers on movement, while birdwatching is about observation itself. You can weigh nature and festival activities as different interests for your stay.

Architecture and Urban History in Jesús María

A visit to Torre Céspedes takes in both floors and the surrounding park. Its exterior resembles a small castle and features Arab-inspired details. The tower was built between 1896 and 1898. Its design, details, and period of construction give visitors several specific points of interest.

At Museo de la Ciudad Luis Biondi, four of the five bedrooms have been converted into permanent and temporary exhibition spaces. The house’s original floors, window and door openings, and roofs have been preserved. A small hall for exhibitions, training sessions, and small concerts is located in the former dining room. The museum thus combines repurposed living spaces with preserved original features. In comparison, Torre Céspedes stands out above all for its castle-like appearance and Arab-inspired details.

History in Departamento Colón

The wider destination of Departamento Colón also includes Parque del Oeste: the protected area covers almost 100 hectares and lies a few blocks from the center of Jesús María, along the western waterfront.

Estancia de Jesús María–Museo Jesuítico Nacional is part of the system of Jesuit estancias in Córdoba, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000. A guided tour brings the historic stages of wine production to life, including the rooms where grapes were processed and a wine cellar where they were subsequently stored.

Other stops in Departamento Colón reveal different aspects of its history. Estancia de Caroya was established in 1616 as a rural agricultural enterprise. Santa Catalina was founded in 1622 and became the most important center for livestock production. The complex includes a church, the priests’ residence, workers’ quarters, a mill, and a water reservoir.

Centro Turístico del Legado Jesuítico y Camino Real is located at the entrance to Estancia Jesuítica de Colonia Caroya in Departamento Colón. Its annex presents a graphic and conceptual overview of the former Camino Real in northern Córdoba. This focus on regional history complements visits to Jesús María with additional themes from Departamento Colón.
