Vicente López Partido reveals different sides of the Río de la Plata: natural areas along the river meet landscaped waterfront spaces, museums and historic buildings. The partido borders the city of Buenos Aires to the south and the Río de la Plata to the east. Exploring the area therefore brings both landscape and culture into focus.

A Coastline Between Nature and Design

Parque Natural La Lucila lies along the river between San Lorenzo and Roma streets. Access is from Borges Street via Paseo del Viento. At the southeastern edge of the partido, on the border with the city of Buenos Aires, lies Arroyo Raggio. It is one of the last largely wild remnants of Vicente López’s waterfront and is among the areas least altered by landfilling.

Parque Paraná in La Lucila has a different coastal character. It was created as part of a project to redevelop 14,400 m² of waterfront. The park includes new walkways, a bike path and piers, as well as native plants, children’s playgrounds, restrooms and parking spaces. The contrast is clear: Arroyo Raggio is defined by a largely wild stretch of waterfront, while Parque Paraná features redeveloped areas and improved paths.

Nodo Lavalle also combines landscape with a particular way of observing it. The wetland is located at the former mouth of the Lavalle relief canal. Piers and observation points make activities such as birdwatching possible there.

Walking Route and Environmental Education

The municipal Del Río route runs from east to west through Vicente López and ends at the Reserva Ecológica. Along the way, it includes the riverfront, dining options, various family activities and the front of the presidential residence in Olivos, among other places. As the municipal route description may be updated, check the current route before your visit.

The Reserva Ecológica de Vicente López offers free, park ranger-led environmental education tours for educational institutions at all levels. The tours cover environmental education, native biodiversity and local ecosystems. They take place Tuesday through Friday at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.; the season runs from March to November, and advance booking is required. Depending on the tour, groups are limited to 30 or 45 people. Teachers or other responsible adults must accompany the group throughout the activity.

Museums, Architectural History and Film

The Museo de la Fundación Rómulo Raggio is located on a site of more than 3,000 m² in Vicente López Partido. Its main building is a French Neoclassical palace dating from 1930 and was declared a building of municipal significance. This building offers a window into architectural history; the Museo y Archivo Documental de Vicente López, by contrast, focuses on the history of the partido. It preserves, researches and shares that history.

Film history takes center stage at Museo Lumiton. The museum preserves and exhibits materials on the history of Argentine cinema, particularly the Estudios Cinematográficos Lumiton. Its permanent exhibition covers the history of Lumiton; the screening room also hosts film series, gatherings and forums. Its collection and exhibition are thus complemented by a space for film screenings and discussion.

Two other historic landmarks offer their own perspectives: Quinta Trabucco was built in 1900 and donated to the municipality of Vicente López by the family. Torre de la Independencia, commonly known as Torre Ader, is a 42.30-meter-high historic monument in the partido. Its height provides expansive panoramic views of the Río de la Plata and the surrounding municipalities.
