Rauch can be planned around several clearly distinct themes: the Balneario Municipal, an annual festival and a layered architectural and landscape history. This allows you to decide in advance whether leisure by the water, an event date or historic architecture should be the focus of your stay.
Getting to Rauch
Rauch can be reached via Provincial Routes 30, 50 and 60. There is also a train connection from Plaza Constitución in the capital region. This makes road and rail two possible options for planning your trip. If you would like to travel by train, check the timetable for your chosen travel date in advance. This lets you coordinate your mode of transport with your planned travel date.
Leisure options at the Balneario Municipal
The facilities mentioned also include a basketball court, a beach volleyball court and two tennis courts. Alongside the pools, there are several sports facilities to choose from, each offering a different focus: basketball, beach volleyball and tennis. Fishing is also possible in the lake within the complex.
The Balneario also has a camping area near the stream, where tourists can rest and unwind. The description of the complex therefore covers both more active options and a place for a quieter break. If you are planning a visit, you can weigh up these different options: sports, time by the water, fishing or relaxing by the stream. Its suitability for families refers specifically to the pools.
Fiesta in September
The Fiesta Nacional del Ave de Raza takes place every year in the second week of September; the exact dates may vary. If you would like to combine your trip with the festival, check the event dates before arranging your travel and accommodation. The annual date range is separate from the leisure and cultural themes, which are not tied to the festival dates. The Fiesta can therefore provide a reason to choose your travel dates, while the Balneario and architectural history offer other focuses for your stay.
Art and architectural history
Paintings, drawings, sculptures and photographs are exhibited at the Museo Municipal de Artes Plásticas “Faustino Jorge Bonadeo.” The collection thus ranges from graphic and painted works to sculptures and photographs. As a cultural theme, art complements the leisure options at the Balneario, although the two areas can be explored in different ways.
The architectural history can also be viewed across different periods. Puente Silva was built in 1875 by the Department of Engineers of the Province of Buenos Aires. Construction work on the Palacio Municipal and Plazoleta de Rauch was carried out in 1937. In Rauch’s architectural example, architect-engineer Francisco Salamone brought together criollo and European influences in a personal synthesis of Art Deco, Expressionism and Italian Futurism. The two dates mark different historical reference points: the construction of the bridge in the 19th century and building work on municipal buildings and squares in the 20th century.
The surrounding area and landscape history
Near Rauch is Castillo San Francisco, also known as Castillo de Egaña. The rural manor house is located near Estación Egaña in the Partido de Rauch, in the Province of Buenos Aires, and was built between 1918 and 1930 by Eugenio Díaz Vélez. The two names refer to the same manor house; its construction period places it between Puente Silva and the construction work of 1937.
Another historical reference reaches back to earlier land use: the former Álzaga estate extended from Arroyo Chapaleofú to Arroyo Los Huesos. Alongside the architecture and construction dates, this landscape connection offers a different perspective on Rauch from its specific leisure facilities. When planning, you can therefore decide whether to focus primarily on the options at the Balneario, the September dates of the Fiesta or the different historical themes.
