The Partido de Lobería stretches from the Sierras de Tandilia to the Argentine Atlantic coast. This offers different options when planning a trip: the coastal settlement of Arenas Verdes, with its forests and dunes, and the cultural attractions and trails in the town of Lobería. If you are looking for accommodation, you can first consider which of these aspects of the area matters most for your stay.

Coast and protected areas

In Arenas Verdes, the ecotourism development zone is designated a “Paisaje Protegido de Interés Provincial” (Provincial Landscape of Interest). The legal designation was announced on July 2, 2019. The coastal settlement is also characterized by its forests and dunes. In addition to the provincial designation, a municipal nature reserve has been identified along the coast: it covers a 2.5-kilometer stretch between Puesto 3 de Guardavidas and Mirador de Aves Playeras. Check the reserve’s boundaries before visiting.

The two protected-area designations focus on different things: one applies to the ecotourism development zone in Arenas Verdes, while the other covers a specifically defined stretch of coast. This distinction is useful when planning a nature-focused stay, as the two designations do not necessarily describe the same area.

Cultural sites in and around Lobería

In the town of Lobería, the Museo Histórico La Lobería Grande is housed in a restored old mansion. The museum preserves, protects and presents the local cultural heritage. The Centro Cultural Ramón Alberto Tito Filgueiras offers a different architectural setting: it is housed in a former railway station and exhibits works by local and regional artists. The mansion and the station building give each venue its own historical context.

The Museo de Ciencias Naturales Gesué P. Noseda was founded on May 4, 1960. Nearby, the Centro Cultural Villa Ercilia in Lobería has a permanent exhibition on medicine. On display are objects that belonged to the surgeon Pedro Domingo Curuchet. Together, these sites cover a range of cultural themes: local heritage, art, natural history and medical history. If you plan to visit one of these cultural attractions, check the current visiting arrangements in advance.

A short trail with art and games

The Camino de Sirga in the town of Lobería is a 500-meter walking trail along the Arroyo Los Huesos. Along the trail are benches featuring local art and a mosaic mural; there are also games for children. This clearly defined route brings together walking, art and play. The Camino therefore offers something different from the museums and exhibition venues: it combines a riverside walk with features located right along the trail.

Getting there and planning for the season

Ruta Provincial 227 is designated as an access route to Lobería. For a summer stay, Parque Municipal Narciso del Valle is another possible activity: during the summer season, it has a municipal swimming pool with changing rooms and canteen service. Check in advance whether it will be available during your travel dates.

Choosing among these themes makes planning your accommodation more specific and helps you focus on the places and activities you actually want to include.
