Those looking for a holiday rental in Pueblo Nuevo will find two distinct highlights in the broader destination of Laprida: the buildings of Francisco Salamone and Complejo El Paraíso, next to Laguna El Paraíso. This landscape-rich area offers architecture and leisure as separate interests to consider when planning a trip.

Salamone architecture in Laprida

The walking tour “Laprida Corazón de la Obra de Salamone” is part of the Ruta Salamone Bonaerense. Francisco Salamone’s works in the Partido de Laprida include the Palacio Municipal, the main square, the slaughterhouse, the cemetery portal, the Corralón Municipal and the delegation in San Jorge. These buildings have been declared cultural heritage of the district.

The Centro de Interpretación de la Obra de Salamone has been operating since 2013 and provides tourists with information for a tour of Salamone’s heritage. The Portal del Cementerio is 33 metres high; the cross with the figure of Christ on it measures 11 metres. The portal is recognised as a Monumento Histórico Nacional. The central sculpture of Christ was commissioned from sculptor Santiago Chiérico in 1937–1938. The cross with the figure of Christ thus reaches one third of the portal’s height. This proportion places the central element in the context of the building’s dimensions and makes it easier to compare the sizes of the two directly.

The Palacio Municipal and Matadero Modelo have also received additional designations: both are considered cultural heritage of the municipality and province, as well as sites of national historic interest. The former Corralón Municipal was built by Francisco Salamone in 1937. Its façade combines three projections of different shapes: a circular one in the centre, a curved one and a classically styled one. A fountain in Plaza Pedro Pereyra has a distinctive history: it was originally used as a flagpole.

Laprida: scenery and leisure at Complejo El Paraíso

Complejo El Paraíso is located next to Laguna El Paraíso and includes a dense eucalyptus grove. Facilities include a buffet, swimming pools and showers, as well as a camping area, fire pits and an amphitheatre. There are also football, paddle tennis and tejo courts, as well as play equipment for children of all ages. Facilities may change, so check the current situation before visiting.

The Dirección de Deportes offers rural cycling, duathlon and triathlon competitions at the complex. If you plan to attend a competition, check the dates in advance. The municipal tourism programme “Torres Abiertas” includes a tour up more than 100 steps to the 40-metre-high tower of the Palacio Municipal. Check whether the tour is being offered before making plans. Laprida’s attractions are therefore quite distinct: visitors can choose between architectural history and a leisure area with a focus on scenery and sport.
